Megan was getting used to Gwyddion’s constant presence, as was everyone else it seemed, and found she rather liked having him around since her fear of his first antics passed. Though she was a little confused about how he could be thinking about boar hunting when they were only hours away from the Slytherin prank.
She shook her head and chuckled. His part was over anyway. Andrew had put the packages into position the night before, well after curfew, and it was left up to the three girls to pull the rest off.
Megan waved good-bye to Gwyddion as he chased after the fool who had stolen his broom. With a sigh, she got up and collected Andrea and Emily. Emily and Megan snickered at Andrea as they later parted ways; Andrea to the dungeons, Emily and Megan to the prefect’s bathroom.
~
As they waved teasingly at Andrea, they noticed a few Slytherin’s already taking interest in the tan crates just down the hallway. Emily and Megan glanced briefly at each other, before sprinting for the stairs. They were late already!
Emily was at the bathroom first, as Megan tore through the hallways and into the Gryffindor commonroom. She would have liked to be much more subtle about it all, but she didn’t have the time. Megan ripped a dozen dungbombs out from under her four-poster bed, and stuffed them into her robes. Spinning on her heel, she shot back downstairs to assist Emily.
Her Ravenclaw friend seemed to have more control over the situation, and had half the bathroom done by the time Megan got there. They threw each dungbomb into position, even taking care to write in various colors on the walls. Before running out the door, Megan stopped to scratch the words “SLYTHERIN SUCKS” with the tip of her wand, where every one could see.
With a flick of Emily’s wrist, the dungbombs went off, and the girs left the door open to let the smell float down the hall to attract attention.
To avoid getting caught, and to have a solid alibi, the two girls decided to watch the quidditch try outs. As they made their way outside, the call came out that something was amiss on the upper floors.

((OOC: Joint post between Alex and Thalion.))
I can’t believe I’m doing this! was the first thought that came into Andi’s head when she waved to the quietly sniggering Emily and Megan. Heading down to the dungeons was only the easy part, Andi had no idea how she would get into the Slug Club, considering that old Sluggy himself was to pick the students to join. Not that Megan and Emily hadn’t tried to figure out how to do it.
As she walked down the main second floor corridor, pondering what she should do, she heard footsteps behind her. Her heart began pounding, what if it was someone in Slytherin? They would definitely know about her helping Gwyn on Wednesday. She took the guts to look behind her, and saw not a Slytherin, but Gwyn walking just a few steps behind her.
“Hey Gwyn, what’s up?”
“Hey Andi how’s it going? I checked my classes for Monday and I’m told we have a few classes together. From what I hear about you Ravenclaws types I don’t stand much of a chance in class.” Gwyn stopped. “You know Andi, you likely saved me from a lot of extra grief last Wednesday and I don’t think I’ve properly thanked you for that. It took some guts for you to get help especially since they were Slytherins. Anyway I just want to thank you for that. So where you headed?”
“Thanks! I’m heading (grudgingly) to the dungeons, I’ve been called to the Slug Club.” Andi made a face. “I hate the idea, but it has to be done.”
“The Slug Club? What the heck is the slug club, or do I really want to know?”
“The Slug Club is a group of students hand picked by Slughorn because they’re good at something or have special abilities. It sounds neat, but you haven’t experienced potions yet. The only thing I like about Slughorn is his mild sense of humour. Anyway, I’m joining the Slug Club to make sure Slughorn doesn’t get whiff of the crates being just a ways down from his office. We don’t want the Gryffindor crate coming to us. So in other words I’m distracting him.” She finished with a grim look on her face.
“Ah I see, how very noble of you. I’m sure I’ll find out about Slughorn soon enough and he wouldn’t want me in his little club so I’m safe for the moment. But I got this from Andrew.” Gwyn held up a piece of parchment and taps it. “I’ve also received a invitation of sorts though this is more of a summons to Professor Dumbledore’s office. I can’t think for the life of me what I’ve done now but I’m going to find out. I got to go this way so I guess I’ll see you later. Good luck with Slughorn, see you later.”
“See ya! And good luck with Professor Dumbledore!”
“Thanks, I’m sure you’ll hear all about from Megan.” Gwyn gave a small wave turned the corner and walked away.
“Yeah ok, see ya ‘round!”
Andi watched Gwyn walk a little ways and she departed herself. “I wonder why Gwyn never has to see the Headmaster… it’s always Dumbledore.” Andi thought aloud.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if Dumbledore became Headmaster, he deals with more than Professor Dippet!” said one of the pictures on the wall.
“Yeah…I wouldn’t mind have him as Headmaster. He seems to have different views than most teachers.” She replied walking on, the man in the picture following after her.
“That he does. He seems to think that anything can be solved by means of calmly talking about what is troubling you. Never once have I seen him yell at any of the students of his fellow staff members!”
“I suppose...”
Andi had finally reached the dungeons. She walked down the corridor, leaving the picture behind and came up to a beautiful door, blackened with age. She took hold of the ornate knocker and held her breath.
Knock, knock, knock!
The door opened to a room filled with people and sounds of the voices spilled out into the corridor. A rather large plump man wearing a red Turkish Fez greeted Andrea.
“Ah you’ve made it have you, Miss Zabe, come in come in my dear. You know I was quite astonished when I was told of you, quite astonished. Imagine a metamorphmagus in Hogwarts all this time and I was unaware if it my, my.”
Slughorn turned to face the crowd. “Now everyone if I can have your attention please, I’d like to welcome and introduce Miss Andrea Zabe. She is from Ravenclaw and very, very clever so be on your guard. Miss Zabe is one of our students that has a very special ability, quite remarkable indeed. She is a metamorphmagus and can change her appearance at will. So if the person your talking to suddenly changes it will likely be her.”
He turns and puts his hand behind Andrea’s back and pushes her forward. “Don’t be shy now we can’t have you hiding behind me now can we. Lets see you may know some of these people I expect. Oh yes everyone knows our gallant Head Boy Mr. Tom Riddle and Mr. Lucius Malfoy, Charles Fran from Ravenclaw I’m sure you know and there’s McDonald, Fraser, Hamfast, Smithwick, Alderson oh I just can’t name them all. Well mingle about and get to know one another, never know when you might need a favour and these people would be in a position to help. I’ve only ever met one metamorphmagus and she was of the Tonks family, a very good family very well placed.” The fat man liberated two pies from a tray being carried about by a House Elf, one of several elves in the room. “Help yourself my dear and you must taste some of the mead I returned with this fall, you’ve never tasted anything better. Now you simply must meet some of these people, and perhaps a little later you could put on a small demonstration of your skills. I’m sure everyone would be most delighted.” Slug horn pushes Andrea in front of him and begins to walk about introducing her to other influential members of the Slug Club.
And so she was sucked into the vortex of introductions and questions about her powers and asked if she wanted to try this scrumptious something or other. She looked over at Riddle and was surprised to see he had his eyes narrowed dangerously.
“What’s your prob-” she started at him, but was interrupted by Slughorn, who had yet more questions about her family and afterwards asked her for a demonstration. Exasperated and downright surprised that one could ask so many questions, she obliged.
Slughorn marched into the middle of the room and announced, “Now, everyone! We have a very special treat tonight! Our newest member of the Slug Club, Miss Zabe, will be putting on a demonstration of her extraordinary and rare powers! Miss Zabe if you would come to the middle of the room, please.”
Blushing slighting Andrea walked hesitantly to the centre of the lavishly decorated room. She didn’t like all this attention with people she barely knew. But she did a quick demonstration of different hair, eye, and skin colours, as well as changing her nose to strange sizes and shapes, same for her lips.
Shortly after the looks of amazement and envy, as well as a dirty look from Tom Riddle, she glanced at her watch and her startling discovery was that it was already an hour after she had arrived! Slughorn saw her and withdrew his pocket watch.
“Oh dear, it’s that the time already. I have to pop out for a moment and do my rounds, I won’t be but a minute. Everyone for just a moment please… yes, yes thank you. The time has just flown by and we should be getting back to our common rooms quite quickly. I have to pop out for a moment and when I return I shall have notes for all of you so you don’t run afoul of Mr. Riddle here or one of his prefects. There’s time for one more cup of mead so please enjoy.” Professor Slughorn turns and reaches for the door handle.
Uh-ho. Andi couldn’t let Slughorn see the crates, if Gryffindor received their crate, then both the Gryffindor common room and Andi would be in trouble. It was time to act.
“Why, Professor?” Andi asked, trying to sounds though she didn’t hear him. “I bet you’ve taught some really interesting and powerful wizards!!”
“I really must be going but yes I have taught several well known if not outright famous people. Lets see there is the current Minister of Magic, Grindelwald for a short time, Mr. Lucius Malfoy’s father who is terribly rich and well known and then there’s….” Professor Slughorn continued to rattle off names for at least a half-hour and seemed to have completely forgotten his rounds of the Slytherin Dungeon. He stopped for a moment and glanced at his pocket watch.
“Oh dear is that the time already my, my.” Slughorn waved his wand and a neat stack of notes appeared on his desk. “Now everyone it is time we call this evening to an end. File past me and I’ll give you a note should you be stopped in the Hallways. You will forgive me for this slight time indiscretion Tom, I don’t where the time has gone. Of course you will Tom, now there’s a capital boy indeed.” Andrea saw to it that she was last in line and when she was handed her note another full half hour had gone by.
“Well my dear I do hope you enjoyed our first little get together. I’ll make sure not to over look you in the future. Don’t worry it shan’t be long before our next little gathering.”
“Thank you Professor I did enjoy it.”
And as Andrea walked out the door, she thought to herself, Mission accomplished.

Gwyddion didn’t know why the request to meet had come from Professor Dumbledore. Nothing so far as he knew had happened that could have been blamed on him, so why was he so nervous? He paused a moment outside Professor Dumbledore’s door and then knocked.
“Enter.” Came a soft voice from the other side. Gwyn opened the door and stepped in. “Good evening Sir, you asked to see me.”
Dumbledore looked up from his desk stared directly at him, it was somewhat unnerving. “So I did Gwyddion, won’t you please come and have a seat.”
Gwyn came forward and sat in a chair.
“I have been keeping an eye on you Gwyddion, to see how you were adjusting to life at Hogwarts. You see, Hogwarts is a school that is quite different from Durmstrang and I will admit that I had some concerns about how you would adjust to our ways. The incident on your first day told me my concerns were well founded, but the trouble on the second day and your lack of actions told me quite the opposite. You seem to have recovered rather well and I believe you will be taking part in the quidditch tryouts as I requested.”
“Yes sir I will be at the tryouts and practise shortly.” Gwyn replied.
“I am pleased to hear that. I opened the great door this morning and I was present at the pitch when you arrived. I watched your flying practise your moves and speed with which you flew. You flew quite well. I also watched you fly over the Dark Forest.” Dumbledore looked at him over his spectacles.
Gwyn heart froze for a moment. He saw me, damn, now I’m for it. Gwyn thought. “Sir I wasn’t aware of the Dark Forest rule. Had I known I wouldn’t of flown there. I didn’t know anything about the rule until Hagrid told me.” Gwyn spoke quickly hoping to avert more trouble and the consequences.
“I am well aware that I had said nothing to you about the Dark Forest, so put your mind at ease.” Dumbledore spoke quietly and calmly but always held eye contact.
“I saw you come out of the forest with Hagrid and watched your return to the castle. I spoke with Hagrid and I understood fully the circumstances. It’s not that which concerns me or why you are here. Hagrid spoke to me of your request to go boar hunting, which I am sorry to say won’t be taking place. I am well aware that at Durmstrang it is a reward for students who do exceptional work or show exceptional skill. Here at Hogwarts there is a point system to honour those attributes in our students and in turn their houses. This is why I asked you to come.” Dumbledore handed Gwyn a letter addressed to both of them.
“Now Gwyn, before you read it I would like you to know that I have already sent a reply in which I strongly disagreed with your mother's view point. I think you have done well here Gwyddion and I have complete confidence in you.”
"My mother?" Dumbledore’s comments and the arrival of the letter from his mother confused Gwyn. What was the purpose of all this, he took the letter opened it and read it. When he looked up his eyes were watery and his jaw was slightly open, he was in shock. He crumpled the letter into a ball stood up and walked to the door.
“Gwyddion please sit down so can we discuss this.” Dumbledore asked.
Gwyn just shook his head no and walked out of the office. He was in a daze as he walked back to the common room. It was as though someone had hit him. He couldn't believe what his mother had said, the words rolled through his head over and over.
Once past the fat lady he went straight to the dorm where he met Andrew.
“Hey come on Gwyn you need to be at the practise and tryouts.” Andrew told him while rushing grabbing his broom and quidditch robes.
Gwyn shook his head. “No… Gwyn swallowed hard. “ I’m not trying out… you go.”
“What are you talking about, of course you’re trying out. It’s all we’ve talked about. Andrew stopped and looked at him. "What’s wrong Gwyn?” Something happened and Andrew could sense it.
“Nothing…. Just go and leave me alone.” Gwyn’s anger at the letter was rising. “Just go Andrew.”
“I’m not going anywhere until you tell me what’s happened. An hour ago you couldn’t wait to tryout. What happened in Dumbledore’s office Gwyn?”
“Just leave me alone Andrew… don’t just stand there, go!!”
“No I’m not going anywhere until I get an answer from you… what’s wrong?”
“GO ANDREW, JUST GO!!” Gwyn’s temper flared and Andrew defiance wasn't helping, he grabbed his wand and pointed it at Andrew. “DON’T YOU KNOW I’M THE FREAK FROM DURMSTANG, I CAN’T BE TRUSTED… GO BEFORE I DO SOMETHING ELSE THAT’S STUDIP! I DON’T BELONG HERE! Gwyn stood wide eyed staring down his wand at Andrew. When he spoke again his voice was cold and harsh. “Do know we’re taught how to spar and how to maim someone before we know how to transfigure something. We are taught that the unforgivable curses are only unforgivable because wizards fear them and are weak. Do know how many small animals I’ve had to kill, have you ever heard a pig squeal under the crucio curse?! That’s all done by the end of your second year oh and the third year gets even better! Yes they dredge old spells and have us work with them and change the wording and how to be creative. GO ANDREW, DON'T MAKE ME HURT YOU, BELIEVE ME I KNOW HOW!!
Andrew stood his ground and stared at Gwyn. “I know you can hurt me so go ahead Gwyn, do what ever it is you do at Durmstrang when someone defies you, because I’m not leaving. I don't think you'll hurt me and I won’t leave a mate when something’s wrong. What happened in Dumbledore’s office Gwyn?”
“I’M A FREAK ANDREW AND THAT’S WHAT SHE THINKS! …….HERE READ IT FOR YOURSELF” Gwyn throws the crumpled letter to Andrew, he picks it up and opens it up and smoothes it out to read it “I’m leaving Hogwarts Andrew, I’m not fit to be here. She wants me out of the way so I’m not an embarrassment,… I’m going back to Durmstrang.” Gwyn drops his arm and sits on the end of his bed.
“She’s always hated everything to do with Durmstrang, you should hear what she’s said. Something to do with her work at the ministry I guess, I don’t know she wouldn’t even come and see me at school. Well I’m going back there, I’m being tucked out of the way.” Gwyn’s breaths come in gasps.
“Gwyn most of this stuff isn’t even true. Where'd she get all this crap from?”
“Thank Mr McDonald.” Said a soft voice from behind Andrew. Andrew was startled and spun around to see Professor Dumbledore standing there.
“Kindly take Mr. Allardyce’s broom with you to the quidditch pitch, we will be somewhat late, thank you.”
Andrew left without word but glanced over his shoulder as he began to walk down the steps. Dumbledore had moved over to Gwyn’s bed and sat down beside him.
“Gwyn I will start by saying that you are not leaving Hogwarts anytime before you complete your seventh year. I will also be truthful and say that I can’t imagine how you feel at this moment. I only know the shock and horror I felt when I read your mother’s letter. By the time you knocked on my door she would have received my reply to her letter. How she received that inaccurate information is something I will investigate because it did not come from the Head Master or myself. Now Gwyddion.........".
-----------------------------------------
At the quidditch pitch Andrew had told Megan and Emily and Kade what had taken place in the dorm and showed them the letter. Gwyn and Professor Dumbledore arrived at the quidditch a half-hour later. The Professor left the pitch and Gwyn seated himself well away from anyone. Andrew picked up Gwyn’s broom and brought it over to him.
“You alright mate?” Andrew asked.
“Ya I’m ok.” Gwyn said quietly. He sat resting his fore head in his hands
“You’re not leaving are you?” Andrew asked quietly.
“No…no that’s what Dumbledore said anyway.”
Andrew sigh with relief. “You don't how glad we are to hear that. You want to be on your own?”
“Ya if you don’t mind.”
“No, I understand.” Andrew paused for a moment. “You know you don’t have to go through this crap all on your own. You’ve got friends here that care about you, and don’t you ever think you don’t.”
Gwyn looked up and smiled. “I’ve just figured that out mate, thanks.”
“And don’t forget the about boxes Gwyn. If it goes as planned it won't be long before they reach the Slytherin common room.”
“Oh ya tonight’s the night.” Gwyn’s face lit up a bit. “It won’t be long now. Good thing we’re all here.”
“You’ll be up for your try out in about ten minutes. Will you be alright?” Gwyn nodded.
Andrew left Gwyn and joined Emily, Kade and Megan.

Caius Nestor was a typical 3rd year Slytherin. He was fresh out of the preteen category, as of that summer, and was involuntarily released onto the Hogwarts society. Not being from a rich family, it seemed the only thing Caius could really pride himself on was his pureblood.
Cocky and all too willing to flaunt his attitude, the posing Slytherin had a natural habit of strutting just about anywhere he went. This led other students in his class to believe he was self-confident and independant. Someone they could follow and rely on to keep their own troubles low and personal mischief high.
Caius of course was none of these things. He had grown a couple inches over the summer, but any fierce looking muscle that may have been bred into him had not quite shown up yet. The boy took to puffing out his chest and straightening up tall whenever challenged. Fortunately for him, his reputation had spread and that was enough to keep out of any fights.
Earlier that day, Caius had been out with a few of his friends and they happened upon a a few crates marked for their house. This was not so interesting, until one kid noticed that a few boxes were for Gryffindor.
The entire Slytherin house was well aware of what happened in the Gryffindor common room, as well as who the culprits were, and the thought made Caius snigger.
Those dim-witted Gryffindors think they're so tough, he thought to himself as his hand slide down the smoothly sanded crate.
Just then, a group of Slytherin boys sprinted by, looking rather enraged. Caius stopped them with a shout to inquire about such an emergency.
One of the three boys back-tracked over to Caius and his friends, briefly filling them in on the vandalism in the prefect bathroom, and the insults nearly burned into the walls.
Caius's face turned red with anger as the other boy ran off. It was obvious who was behind it.
"Get these crates into the common room!" he snarled at his friends. He could hand out Gryffindors belongings to the students in their house. They would call them souvenirs for the crushing they'd give Gryffindor on and off the quidditch field.
~
Caius was the first to emerge from the commonroom, as his friends were completely covered in was appeared to be dung. Once they had opened the first crate, the others seemed to burst open as wood and dung slammed into them. He could feel hands grabbing at his ankles, fighting for holds on something, anything, that might let them regain controll over their own bodies once knocked to the floor. The commonroom had been relatively full before that point, but it seemed, from the looks of things, that it may take months to find and identify everyone.
His anger flared dangerously, as a few Slytherin girls looking to get to their dorms saw the mess and Caius before starting to scream. The smell drifed down the dungeon hallway just as fast as the screetching did, it seemed.
By this time, meetings with Slughorn were over. The overly rotund teacher came bounding down the hallway, trying to keep up with his prefects. The older students, though skilled as they might have been, were simply at a loss as how to handle the oozing brown mass sliding out of the portal hole. As they stared, Slytherin students who had been originally occupying the commonroom came floating out, choking and gasping for clean air... which simply wasn't something one normally found in the dungeons.

((OOC: Joint post. Me & Thalion))
"Hey Gwyn." Gwyn looked up to find Kade walking over to him. "Long time no see eh?"
"Yeah, since this morning. My turn yet?" Gwyn replied gripping his Cleansweep 2000 tighter.
"Are you ready to go?" Kade said motioning to the Quidditch field. "We're starting now."
"Yeah, as ready as I'll ever be." Gwyn stood and stretched as he tried to put everythig else out of his mind.
"Good to hear it," Kade said putting his hand on his shoulder. "Come on." He led Gwyn over to the practice field. Gwyn looked around and saw that this was no Durmstrang field but it was a Quidditch field all the same. Kade put two fingers to his lips and whistled loud and shrill. The team soaring overhead stopped what they were doing and landed in front of the two in a perfect line. An older boy walked up to Kade huffing a bit.
"Why'd you stop us Kade?" he asked taking in a deep breath.
"Just hang on Charlie, I'd like to introduce someone to the team." Kade said moving Gwyn forward a bit. "Hey everyone, this is Gwyn Allardyce. He's going to be trying out for Dennis's spot." The team greeted him warmly, the bigger of the guys there clapping him on the back.
"Gwyn, this is Charlie. He's our seeker." As he said this Charlie nodded toward Gwyn.
"This here is Adam Durby, he's one of our chasers." Adam inclined his head toward Gwyn.
"This here is our beautiful Katherine Clearwater." Kade bowed mockingly toward Katherin. She punched him in the arm. "She's a beater," Kade said rubbing his arm, "You'd do well just to call her Kat." Gwyn looked over at her and she winked at him with a playful smile.
"This here is our other beater Boris O'leary," Kade said gesturing toward the bigger guy on the line. Boris snapped up and saluted Gwyn. "Don't worry, he's a gentle giant."
"This is Jason, another chaser on our team." Jason smirked a bit. "He's the only one I know to have ever jumped off of his broom intentionally to score a goal. He's a nut, but a good player."
"And you know me," he said gesturing to himself. "Im the keeper nad also the Gryphindor Team Captain. If you ever have a problem with something on the field you can talk to me and ill bust a couple of skulls, i mean, talk peacefully with the culprits." Kade snickered at the team and they laughed back.
"Now, here is your training gear. Go ahead and put that on while I discuss with Charlie the terms of the arrangment he made with a certain Ravenclaw girl." Charlie groaned and walked away with Kade as Gwyn walked over to the changing room to try on his clothes.
Gwyn changed quickly and ran out onto the pitch. Everyone was still waiting for him and as he ran up Kade gave the word and everyone kicked off. Gwyn shot up and quickly and over took Boris. He saw Jason with the quaffle and shot forward to make a catch. The bludger flew past harmlessly as he caught sight of Adam just below. He flew straight at Kade and then passed the quaffle off to Adam. Kade was caught off guard but still somehow managed to catch enough of the quaffle to deflect it just past the outside ring. Charlie flew past looking as though he’d spotted the snitch somewhere above them. Kade tossed the quaffle out and it was picked up by Adam who threw it to Gwyn. Gwyn took the quaffle and rolled right to miss the bludger and nearly met Boris who aimed to bump him. Gwyn flipped upright and dropped to avoid the second bludger and flew low till past mid field and then soared nearly straight up past Kat and handed off the ball to Jason.
Gwyn had forgotten all his troubles the moment he caught the quaffle and nothing else mattered now but the game. The team Kade had worked very well together and that was obvious from the outset. On a strong team like this Gwyn could see that there was a good chance of the House Cup going to Gryffindor was good. He was in his element again and all that mattered was to get the quaffle through the hoops however they could do it as a team.
“Gwyn look out!”
Gwyn looked up in time to see a bludger soar from above toward him. Without thinking he spun right in a corkscrew just barely missing the bludger but losing his grip on the quaffle. Gwyn tried to reach out for it but couldn’t grab it in time.
“Wingardium Leviosa!” shouted Kade and Gwyn stopped falling. Gwyn looked up at Kade. Kade had his wand out pointed toward him, waving it in a “swish and flick” motion to keep him airborne. Behind him though, as Gwyn noticed, the quaffle toppled through the center ring. Kade turned just as it went in and groaned. The rest of the team cheered for Gwyn’s success and Kade lowered Gwyn to the ground. Kade jumped off his broom and toward Gwyn.
“Are you all right Gwyn?” Kade asked.
“Yeah no harm done Kade, thanks very much. I owe you one but I’ll still take that goal on you. Any goal is a good one but my style really sucked.” Gwyn smacked Kade in the shoulder. “When we go to this Hogsmead village I’ll buy you a butterbeer. So what do you think, do I make the team?”
Before Kade could answer Boris walked over to the two of them. “Kade, are you losing your touch? Believe you me Gwyn, you’ve got some skill or some wicked dumb luck to get one by Kade here on your first try.”
“Which is exactly why he will be on our team this year,” Kade said leading Gwyn away with the rest of the team. “Welcome to the team bud.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Wooo hooo” Gwyn shouted, he was ecstatic about making the team, things were finally changing for the better. Gwyn shook everyone’s hand. Kade gave Gwyn a set of new robes after they changed and to Gwyn it was a turning point. Kade, Andrew, Megan and Gwyn walked off the pitch together talking Quidditch. Gwyn took another look at the pitch and smiled. Playing quidditch was very important to Gwyn and he hadn’t dare imagine that he would actually get on the Gryffindor team right after getting to the school.
“Come on lets see if we can get something from the kitchen and celebrate. Andrew can get something no doubt. Come on Andrew don’t look like that.”
They talked and laughed all the way back to the school and grudgingly Andrew went to pick up something from the kitchens.
Gwyn was ecstatic with the quidditch results and it felt good to be on the Gryffindor quidditch team. He ran down the hall ahead of Kade and jumped in the air and spun and landed facing the next corridor. He stopped cold and tossed his broom back behind him and had his wand out before his broom hit the wall.
“Hey boys look who we have here. Oohhhh watch out he’s got his wand out. What are you going to do Allardyce choke us again, or something darker, something from your old school? We thought you’d be well on your way out of here by now, back to Durmstrang, but you’re a slow learner.” These were the same three Slytherin 7th year boys from Gwyn’s first day at school and they all stood there holding their wands out pointed at him.
“What are you doing here and what do you want from me?” Gwyn raised his voice hoping Kade would hear, and he did. Kade grabbed Megan and stood flattened against the wall around the corner. He watched what was going on by peering around the corner unseen by the Slytherin boys.
“Well we’re back…just having a little chat with you, aren’t we.” The two cronies laugh. “What do we want, what… do... we... want!!? We only one thing from you. Remember Luther Zagreb, or have you forgotten all about him?”
“I haven’t forgotten him. What’s he to you?” Gwyn demands.
“He’s my cousin shit face and you’re going to pay for what you did to him.”
“I didn’t do anything to him, all I did was rebound his spell because he cast it when my back was turned. I saw him, reflected in a window and he didn’t have the guts to face me fairly. He challenged me; all I did was protect myself. He got his own curse in his back in his face, it wasn’t anything I cursed him with.” Gwyn’s temper was full blown.
“Your going to end up a lot worse than him Allardyce, you’ll have wished you left after your thrashing or packed your bags today after mommy’s letter. You fucking little bastard Dumbledore won’t be able to keep you here when we’re done!!”
One of the boys took a step forward and a red streak shot past Gwyddion’s ear and slammed into the wall, a second streak hit Gwyddion’s leg and it buckled. Gwyn went down on his left side.
“GWYN!” shouted Megan.
“Fragesco amplus.” Gwyddion’s spell hit the one boy who had shot the curse first, his wand dropped as he shouted in pain and instinctively grabbed his wand hand. “Fragesco asia.” The lead Slytherin fell to the floor and screamed in pain as the bones in his leg snapped. The third assailant dragged the lead Slytherin behind a pillar as he kept shooting curses everywhere.
Two streaks of light flew from behind Gwyn and hit the pillar; Kade and Megan had joined the fight.
Someone grabbed Gwyn and started to pull him back.
“No, no leave me here.” He shouted as he struggled against being dragged back. Fragesco asia” Gwyn shouted as one of the Slytherins began to run down the corridor. The boy screamed in pain and fell as the bones in his legs broke.
“Expelliarmus” Megan’s curse hit the pillar and the masonry exploded sending fragments and dust everywhere. She grabbed Gwyn under his arm and started to drag him back
“Wait Megan, wait just a second!” Gwyn shouted above the roar and screams of other students. Two streaks of light one red smashed into the pillar and one blue hit the wall directly behind the boys who were crouched on the floor shooting randomly when they could.
“Raptur.” Gwyn muttered under his breath and as he flourished his wand a streak of deep blue intense light struck what was left of the top half of the pillar. It exploded when powerful spell hit it sending rock plaster and dust everywhere. The bottom of the pillar teetered and fell over. The air was choked with dust and the corridor littered with debris, and some of the ceiling had fallen in. The two Slytherin boys who had been hit lay on the floor shaking and crying in pain. Kade had rushed forward and took the wands from the floor the third boy surrendered his.
Megan had crouched down by Gwyn. Others were now coming; prefects and teachers holding their wands at the ready, not knowing what to expect. Gwyn’s leg was broken and bone protruded through the skin, blood ran down and soaked his pants and left a bright red puddle on the white, now dusty floor.
Teachers came in and started looking to the wounded first. Dumbledore arrived and looked at the damage and then at Gwyn.
“It wasn’t all me and I didn’t start it Professor.” Megan also rose to Gwyn’s defence.
“Enough, enough there’s time for all that later.” The Professor said holding his hand up for silence. He made a quick wave of his wand and a wheel chair materialised with a raised platform for Gwyn’s leg. They magically bound his leg and levitated him into the chair.
“See to it that he goes straight to Matron and warn her about the others. You will no doubt be so kind as to explain to her what injuries you inflicted on them.” The Professor looked sternly at Gwyn.
“Yes sir.” Gwyn said sheepishly.
Megan took Gwyn to the hospital and Matron was able to mend the break and close the wound on his leg. Provided Gwyn stay off his leg for a day or so Matron allowed him to leave before the others arrived. Gwyn, as Dumbledore requested, explained to Matron what his spells had done to the two boys. She shook her head with displeasure. “You think one war in this country would be enough without us trying to kill one another.” She left to prepared for the two patients to arrive.
“My broom! We’ve got to go back and get my broom.”
“Don’t worry someone from the team will have your broom.” Megan shook her head. “Boys and their ruddy brooms.” Megan muttered something about quidditch under her breath as she floated the wheelchair up a set of stairs. A number of the Gryffindors had been at the Quidditch tryouts so the news of the wand fight had spread quickly. The common room filled quickly, Gwyn and Megan were badgered with questions which neither really wanted to talk about. For Gwyn the whole thing had brought back painful memories from years ago in Durmstrang. He never heard or was told what had happened to Luther Zagreb, the boy simply disappeared from school and didn’t return. Gwyn was found not to be a fault for what happened and nothing more was ever said. It was not to long before news of an incident in the Slytherin common room began to arrive. Gwyn and Megan looked at each other and couldn’t help laughing a little when the exploding crate story was confirmed.
Before long stories of the dragon dung and the smell that was coming out of the dungeons became better and better. The stench had permeated not only the common room but also the dorms and the dungeon corridor. It seemed that dragon dung didn’t clean up as easily as stink sap. Professor Slughorn was apparently beside himself running around trying different spells to clean the mess. It was heard that Tom Riddle in a rage over the “desecration of Salazar Slytherin’s common room” had vowed to find those responsible but said no more. Those who knew of Tom Riddle knew his threat was not idle but Gwyn didn’t know Riddle like the others and wasn’t concerned about him at that moment.
Everything seemed to be going well though Megan and Gwyn vehemently denied any having anything to do with Slytherin’s problem. Their story wasn’t hard for anyone to believe since both of them and Kade were all at Quidditch practise and then the fight. Gwyn talked to a number of Gryffindor’s and it felt good not to be so ostracised by most of his fellow Gryffindor's.
“Oh my god, Gwyn look!” Chantelle, a fourth year girl said standing suddenly and pointing.
Gwyn’s bandaging was slowly dripping blood on the floor. Megan began to unwrap his leg but the more she did the worse the blood saturation was. Gwyn went quite pale.
“Megan something’s wrong.” Gwyn’s head fell to one side then rolled forward onto his chest. He had passed out
((OOC: This is after Andi leaves Slughorns’ room from the meeting. Sorry the timeline is a bit messed because of this.))
Mission accomplished.
BANG!
The explosion seemed to shake the dungeons. Soon afterward, there was screaming and the most horrible stench. The Slytherin portrait hole burst open, and out poured Slytherins, covered from head to toe in dragon dung.
Tom Riddle came flying down the corridor screaming questions at confused and stinking Slytherin’s, but no avail. He himself as he was with Slughorn, had not witnessed the explosion, and from the look of confusion on his face, he had no idea what caused it. Andrea watched as his eyes fell to the spot where the crates had been earlier that day, and widen in shock. The crates were gone, all of the crates.
Andi had suspected this would happen. Ever since she started hanging with Emily and Megan and was introduced to Gwyn and be-friended by him, she was somewhat at risk, as were they all, of being targeted for standing up for Gwyn. Riddle knew of Andi’s friendship with Gwyn, and suddenly started towards her.
Andi’s heart skipped a beat when she saw the look of pure loathing, and anger on his face. Her mind screamed at her to move, to run, but it was as though she had turned to stone.
Oh God, move! He’s almost on me! Move. Move! MOVE DAMNIT!
She turned and ran as fast as she could down the corridor, and a quick glance back told her Riddle wouldn’t give up that easily. She began slowing down as she became more, and more fatigued, she wasn’t in great shape. Footsteps. Riddle was still in pursuit, and getting closer. A hand on her shoulder, it gripped tightly, and whipped her around. She looked into Riddle’s face, which contorted with rage as she met his eyes. She could have sworn she saw a flash of crimson in them.
“You!” he spat at her. “I suspected you from the time you walked to the door to Slughorn’s office. Why would someone like you want to be in the Slug Club? I’m taking you to Professor Slughorn and you will admit to taking part in the desecration of Salazar Slytherin’s common room. Give me you wand and let’s go.”
Andrea’s now tear stained face now had lines of terror etched into it. Her mind was working frantically and she barley her what Riddle had said.
“Give me your wand.” he repeated firmly.
“N-no.” Andi said. Her voice was rather distant.
“Give me your wand!”
“No!” She said more defiantly this time.
“GIVE ME YOUR DAMN WAND, GIRL!” he roared.
“REDUCTOR!”
Andi had been reaching for her wand the whole time. Unfortunately, Riddle had is wand out and he had blocked the worst of her spell, but he was blasted back anyway. Andi turned again and ran up the stairs and behind a tapestry she hid. She heard a rush of footsteps go right past her tapestry and down the corridor. Not until twenty minutes later did she decide to come out and make her way cautiously back to her common room. She turned a corner to find the catastrophic remnants of a previous battle.
Oh God. she thought. What’s happened this time?
Well aware that it was well after curfew, she broke into a run to the hospital wing. Locked, not too hard to get around.
“Alohomora.”
The lock clicked open and Andi crept inside. It was too dark to see so with a quick muttering of lumos! she looked around to see who was in a bed. There was no Gwyn and that was a big surprise.
On the other side of the room, there were three Slytherin boys. It looked like the same boys Gwyn attacked the first day he was here.
“Excuse me! Do you have any idea what time it is?!”
“No, well sort of. I just need to rest here. I’ve witness an explosion of dragon dung and I think it messed with my brain.”
“Well, if you must, but I’ve not heard of dragon dung effecting anyone before. I’ll look at you in the morning. Mind you don’t wake anyone up.”
“Thanks Matron, I’m sorry to inconvenience you.”
Phew that was close! Andi said to herself, I don’t think Riddle will look for me in here. The only thing I have to watch for is if Riddle sees me in the corridor.
With that thought in mind, Andi picked out a bed and remained there until the morning.
((This is a joined post by Michi (finally) and myself.))
Emily wandered into the Ravenclaw common room, tired and smelling vaguely of dragon dung. This went unnoticed by everyone else, however, as currently the dungeons, and entire lower half of the school smelled vaguely of dragon dung.
To Emily, it smelled like victory.
She had half a mind to confide in her housemates that she had helped with The Dragon Dung Incident of '44, until she actually began to register what people around her were saying, and this brought any delusions being congratulated on helping ensure that the Slytherins would smell as foul as they acted to a screeching halt.
"I can't believe they haven't found who did it," A fifth-year girl was saying, frowning slightly, "I mean, it completely ruined all of the upholstery! And the smell will take ages to dissipate! And all because some Slytherin students were trying to remind people what Hogwarts is all about; teaching children from magical families!" She sniffed slightly, "I mean, honestly, if you ask me, they just might have the right of it." Emily paled slightly. This was not at all what she had been expecting.
"I agree," A fifth-year boy - who Emily recognized was a prefect, "I bet it's the Gryffindors doing all this - our bathroom was vandalized also! They've always hated the Slytherins too, just because they'd rather we keep riffraff out of Hogwarts."
"Who are you calling riffraff, exactly?" Amanda Cunnings interjected. She was a fourth-year, and a muggleborn; Emily had shared a room with her for the past three years.
"Not you, of course," The girl said pacifyingly, "Just the ones who think they can get away with anything."
"Well the Slytherins are foul!" Amanda said, "They want everyone like me chucked out of Hogwarts! Not just some of us - Emily, you know a few Slytherins, right? Isn't that what they're playing at?" Emily hesitated, then nodded and walked over.
"They're horrid," She said firmly, "And I'm glad they've got dragon dung all over their common room." The two fifth-years looked shocked.
"But aren't you a pureblood?" The boy said, "Don't you agree?"
"No." She said, taking Amanda's arm and steering her up the staircase to their dormitories. "I really don't."
~
After the Slytherin fight, Gwyn, Megan and Kade returned to the Gryffindor commonroom to wait out all the excitement in the hallways. Gryffindors themselves were not much better, but this way they could wait out all the Hogwarts traffic. Despite the crowds need of a good-story telling, Megan would have liked to stay for a bit longer. Kade seemed to share her thoughts, until Gwyddion passed out.
Megan looked down, slightly bewildered at the boy in the wheelchair, then spun him around and toward the door. She signaled to Kade, asking him to come along as an escort. They didn't need anymore Slytherin trouble right now.
As people started to filter back inside, the trio tried to leave unnoticed... which was virtually impossible. They were questioned by just about everyone who passed. Neither Kade or Megan stopped to accommodate any of their classmates.
They walked on for about fifteen minutes, and Megan started to tire on her way up the second flight of stairs. Kade took over for her without a word, and continued on.
They were nearing the hospital wing, when Gwyddion suddenly regained conciousness. Megan wanted to ask if he was alright, or atleast if he felt he could make it to the infirmary. Instead, she ended up harrassing him. She blamed it on their late night walk.
"Gwyn is it just me," Megan teased on their way up to the hospital wing. "Or do you have a thing for the Matron? You seem to like visiting her." She herself found this an odd thing to say, considering the predicament they had all just come out of, but Megan strangely found that she couldn't resist.
Gwyddion was being wheeled along in front of her, so she could not see any reaction on his face in the dimly lit hallway. Kade, who was walking next to Megan, just smiled and chuckled lightly.
Kade eyed the three Slytherin boys as Megan pushed Gwyn's chair into the room.
"Back so soon Mr. Allardyce?" the Matron muttered, examining the fracture in his leg.
While Gwyddion and the Matron were busy, Kade called Megan over to a curtained bed in the corner.
"Look at this," he said, pointing at the sleeping form of Andrea.
~
Later, when everything had been sorted out, and Andrea gently wakened, they walked back down to the otherside of the school to make sure their Ravenclaw friend got back okay. Gwyddion took a few cautious steps on his recently healed leg, before trotting back alongside his friends.
The four knew little about the mixed views currently going on inside the commonroom, and made their way to the entrance.
Post by Gwyn on Sept 11, 2007 21:21:25 GMT -8
It was Monday and Gwyn was looking forward to starting classes but not his first class, potions. He did not know how Professor Slughorn might react to him being there considering Gwyn’s problems with students in his house. In the Great Hall a slight odour of dragon dung still wafted in the air but the main mess in the Slytherin common room had been cleaned up during the night but the odour was not so easily taken care of.
Gwyn’s mind was elsewhere at breakfast, the fight the prior night had brought up some memories of Luther Zagreb and of what had taken place two years prior.
The tension between the Slytherin and the Gryffindor tables was at a peak that morning. Everyone now knew of the fight and dragon dung incident. It was assumed that Gryffindor was behind the dragon dung explosion and the vandalism in the prefects’ bathroom, though there was no proof whatsoever and one of the crates was labeled to go to Gryffindor. A rumour that Ravenclaw may have been involved in the explosion was also making the rounds but most people discounted it. Gwyn did have the odd question about the explosion that morning from fellow Gryffindors but he strongly denied having anything to do with it. It was at this time that Andrew handed him a note, it was a summons to Dumbledore’s office. He thanked Andrew and headed there straight away. Gwyn knocked on the Professor's door and heard the now familiar reply of “Enter”.
Dumbledore looked up and smiled. “Have a seat please Gwyddion.” Dumbledore sat back and stared at Gwyn for a moment, which was Gwyn’s warning to close his mind from Dumbledore’s Legilimency. After a minute Dumbledore averted his eyes and sat forward placing his hands on his desk and sighed heavily. “Gwyddion we have a problem.”
----------------------
By the time Gwyddion got back to the common room all he had time for was to gather his books and run down to the dungeon for potions class. Slughorn had not yet arrived and opened the door so Gwyn waited at the back of the line. He was pissed off. Dumbledore had all but accused him of deliberately using magic to maim the three boys, two of which had been sent to St Mungo’s Hospital that morning. As far as Gwyn was concerned they started the fight and he ended it.
The parents of the boys had called for Gwyn’s expulsion but when they were told that their son’s could be investigated by the Ministry for what they had done, since they were of age, they backed down. Gwyn did not get off lightly though. He was warned about using strong magic outside of the classroom and chastised for the force and violence he used defending himself. He was put on notice and in Dumbledore’s words “expected to manage himself in a way befitting a student of Hogwarts.”
“Pffff” he grunted while thinking what Dumbledore had said to him. He wasn’t looking for trouble it came to him in the guise of an old grudge. He wanted change, to leave Durmstrang and its life style behind but last night he was glad his Durmstrang teaching kicked in. Weak curses would have easily been blocked, it needed to be overpowering, overwhelm the enemy then deal with them, that’s what he knew, and it worked. As for the exploding dung crates Gwyn held firm that it wasn’t him. He didn’t even know where the Slytherin common room was. Anyway one was labelled for Gryffindor wasn’t it? Not our fault the Slytherins took both cases.
Slughorn finally arrived and unlocked the door. Gwyn kept to himself at the back of the line, he wasn’t in the mood for much after Dumbledore’s little talk. Slughorn went into the class at the front of the line and didn’t notice him and since he didn’t have a partner he sat at a table in the back. He could see Megan, Emily, Kade and Andi from where he was but they all had partners and he was the odd man out though there were a couple tables of three. Slughorn looked tired and a little rattled, no surprise there. He turned and faced the class and started giving instructions but stop when he noticed a new student in the back.
“Ah we have a new face in the back of classroom. Stand-up now and give us your name. No hiding in the back now.” Slughorn tried to sound quite jolly. Gwyn got up slowly and faced the professor.
“Good morning Professor, my name is Gwyddion Allardyce.” Gwyn kept looking right at the Professor.
Some students stared at him or whispered to one another. As for Slughorn his jowls shook but there was no sound coming out of his mouth. Gwyn waited a moment and then sat down.
“You…yes then. Well now…all right …well, lets get out our cauldrons get ready then. You have everything you need Mr. Allardyce?”
“Yes thank you Professor.” Gwyn replied trying to be polite.
Potions for the most part was uneventful. This particular potion Gwyn had made before though he was very careful not to make a mistake. The only time Slughorn came to his table was to look at the results and he looked pleased but said nothing and only gave a nod. Gwyn vanished his potion and packed away his equipment.
After class he waited for Megan and Kade and walked out with them.
“What happened with Dumbledore?” Megan barely waited till they were out the door.
“It wasn’t good.” Gwyn replied “He tried to use Legilimency but I closed him out. He knows nothing about the crates and I denied knowing anything about it. Ya and about last night I was basically accused of deliberately using overpowering magic when “lesser spells would have work as well”. I was reminded that I’m in Hogwarts and not Durmstrang. Oh ya get this; the parents of those three guys wanted me expelled as well. Can you believe that?” Gwyn shook his head and stared at the floor. “I’m glad I reacted the way I did. It’s what I was taught to do and it’s all I knew to do. I can’t change that; it’s a part of me. Maybe if I’m here long enough things will change but I just can’t do it overnight. I wish I could, I’ll try but Durmstrang is still part of me… maybe it will always be there, I don’t know right now I just don’t know. Come on lets go or we’ll be late for transfiguration, I don’t want to upset Dumbledore anymore than he is. Hey there isn’t an empty desk close to you is there?”
((This post was brought to you by the combined efforts of myself, Alex and Thalion.))
Megan was glad Gwyddion had not been expelled... or rather, she was glad that he had not yet been expelled. She had not wanted to say it, but she assumed rushing into asking questions probably gave her away. The thought made her want to blush, so she tried to appear as indifferent as possible.
Since Gwyddion transferred to Hogwarts, she seemed to be involved in nothing but House mischief. Megan was surprised to find that she didn’t mind. As much as she did not want Gwyddion to go, she secretly basked in the feeling of letting someone else take the rap.
The group found a seat for Gwyddion nearby, preferably far away from any Slytherins. Dumbledore’s presence in the room made sure everyone stayed in line though, so it was an un-needed precaution.
Gwyn took a quick look at the lay out of the classroom and settled in a couple of seats away from Megan and Kade with an empty desk beside him. Many of the Slytherin students there had been in the Potions Class with him and he noticed Megan had placed him well away from any of them. Gwyn took his seat and looked over to Megan and gave her a quick wink, but the Professor clearing his throat call for everyone’s attention. This was nothing like the potion’s class and the constant chattering was gone instantly. This impressed Gwyn and spoke of the respect or fears some of the students had of Dumbledore. There were no teacher forced introductions in this classroom and a sharp rap on his desk got Gwyn’s attention.
Andi raced down the stairs and whipped around the corner. A quick glance at her watch told her she only had thirty seconds to get to class on time. Down more stairs and through a large classroom door. She made it with only seconds to spare! She glanced at the desks around the classroom and her eyes caught one of the only empty ones there. She walked over to it and plopped down, right beside Gwyn.
“Hey.” she whispered.
“Hey Andi, why so close to late?” he replied.
“I forgot my Transfiguration book upstairs and had to run to get it. That’s not the first time it’s happened either, I always seem to forget something!”
She fell silent; Dumbledore had started the lesson.
He looked up and saw the Professor’s sharp blue eyes looking down at him but they seemed to be smiling now and not boring into him as they were in his office.
Dumbledore’s lesson was new to Gwyn and a challenge at that. Transfiguring a broom into something which others would easily over look. Gwyn could think of many uses for a spell like this and through himself into it. On his first attempt he managed to change the brooms colour to bright orange which wasn’t to bad considering several people set their brooms on fire.
Transfiguration was Andi’s favourite class because of the sheer challenges it set. Being in Ravenclaw everyone seemed to expect more from her, but she was just the same as everyone else, although, maybe just a little more keen on the finer details of spells, such as certain pronunciation. That’s was probably why the Sorting Hat put her in Ravenclaw.
This particular spell was rather difficult. She looked beside her to she Gwyn holding a bright orange broom then looked at her plain broom, which was lying motionlessly on her desk. Picking it up, she had an attempt at the new spell succeeding only in completely covering her broom in a thick layer of ice as well as her hand. Andi stood there stunned for a moment and then tried to shake her hand off her broom, which only made her wrist sore from the extra weight being flailed around.
With a complicated flick-twizzle thing, she had a jet of hot air coming out of her wand and melted the ice covering her broom and hand. Then she had another go at the spell. Unfortunately she only had the complete opposite effect of last time. Her broom had now set aflame.
“Augamenti!”
A stream of water now flowed from her wand and she put her now rather charred broom out. She muttered Reparo! and gave a sigh. It wasn’t one of her better days.
When Megan’s broom went up in flames she was tempted to let it continue to burn. The world could do without one more anyway. But Emily, seeing Megan’s lack of action, put it out without a word.
Megan scowled, but didn’t protest. She was glad enough to see the end of that class. Her positive attitude had pretty much died by the time they let out. She couldn’t get the lesson correct and even worse than that, she realized that she had forgotten her textbook for her next class. The fact that charms was next gave her a glimmer of hope that she would not need her book. Charms seemed mostly wand work anyway. But in the end, she decided to go get it.
Normally Megan would have drafted Emily to come along to get her book, but Emily was currently banned from Gryffindor. Megan’s mood soured even more when the thought of traveling out of a pair came up.
Thankfully Gwyddion volunteered.
Gwyddion had to stifle a laugh when Megan’s and Andi’s brooms burst into flames but all he had managed was to change his brooms colours three time ending up with orange, but it was progress. Andi didn’t seem to upset about the broom but Megan seemed really bummed out over the whole thing. To make matters worse she had left her Charms book back in the common room. Gwyddion offered to go with her.
“Megan really I don’t mind going with you alright. Forget about the damn broom, we’ll get your book and come back. Come on." The two of them rushed off to the Gryffindor common room. They were on the main floor so it meant a bit of a sprint up the stairways. They were about to take a second set of stairs when Gwyn grabbed Megan and pulled her back. “Riddle” he hissed in her ear. “He’s talking to that lady ghost.”
“The Grey Lady, that’s who the ghost is.” Megan told him
“Quick under here.” Gwyn grabbed her arm and pulled her under a tapestry. As far as Gwyn was concerned every tapestry in Hogwarts had a hidden passage way behind it but that was far from the truth and it was just a bit of luck that there was a passage behind that tapestry. A passageway that was known by very few over the years. Holding on to Megan he ran down a rickety set of stairs and stood in a cob web infested area with three long looking passages heading in different directions. Judging by the dust on the floor this passage hadn’t seen anyone for some time.
“Lumos.” Gwyddion’s wand tip lit up the area. "Whoa this is interesting. More interesting than Charms by a long shot. What’d you think should we see where one of these go?"
Megan lit up her wand before Gwyddion ever finished his sentence. “Which way though? These could go anywhere…”
It wasn’t the dark Megan was worried about really. A couple years prior, Hogwarts had undergone a scare that was rather anti-muggle. Megan, being purely from a muggle family, had no wish to come face to face with whatever rumored beast that may still walk the unchartered parts of the school. She wasn’t sure if Gwyddion knew about any of that, though it was kind of hard not too even if you were from another school.
But one look at his pleased smile at their finding had Megan putting her own fears aside. She took one look back up the way they had come, making sure there werent any followers, and trotted down the middle passage keeping close to Gwyddion. Charms could wait.
The narrow hall went on and on, with the floorboards creaking under their every step. As they got further along, Megan found her original sense of bravery lessening with every little noise. All she could think of at that moment was the girl who died a couple years before. The only thing that gave her comfort was the fact that the incident happened nearly in the middle of an open school, and not in some unknown catacomb. She officially hated her own lineage at that moment.
After what seemed like hours, the two came upon a door that led up into the ceiling of the tunnel. Slowly, they pushed it aside and found themselves in a shed with old brand wizarding clothing.
"Alohomora,"Megan whispered when she finally located the locked shed door. The pannel opened with a screetch, and Megan cringed as it did so. Cautiously she poked her head out to get their bearings, and found that they were outside of Gladrags Wizardwear.
The tunnel was much like some of the old passages Gwyn and his mates had explored in Durmstrang. Those tunnels there were damper than this one and most were ancient escape tunnels that led out into the forest. Every now and then one of the boys would smuggle vodka into the school and the boys would use the tunnels to go into the forest to party and sometimes smoke. This went on in Gwyn’s third year and once they were very nearly caught by some men in uniforms, quick use of wands was all that saved them.
When Megan told Gwyddion where they had ended up it was a pleasant surprise. “Hogsmead, well that’s alright then. How about we do a bit of shopping before we go back. We can’t go in these cloths though or we’ll be recognized right away and questions will be asked.” Gwyn looked around the building they were which had racks of old clothing. "Have you ever seen any kids in Hogsmead that didn’t go to Hogwarts? We’d kind of stick out if we were the only kids in town.”
Gwyn peeked out of the door and looked up and down the street. He for some reason had second thoughts. He came in and leaned against the wall.
“This doesn’t feel right Megan. We could be asked questions and there’s a chance we’d be caught. I won’t do that to you, I won’t have you up before Dumbledore or the Headmaster because of one of my crazy larks. I don’t need anymore trouble right now either, they’d expel me for sure. We’ve made it to Hogsmead and that’s enough for now.” He spotted something white on the floor and picked it up. “It’s a price tag.” He handed it to Megan. “That’s all the proof we need that we were here.”
He glanced at his watch. “We’ve been gone for 45 minutes but it won’t take us that long to get back now that we know the way”. He stared at Megan reached up touched her hair. “Cob web.” he said as he slowly pulled something out of her hair.” He pulled the door shut and magically locked it again. He took Megan’s hand. “Come on lets head back.”
Megan opened the door to stairs leading into the tunnel, she erased any trace of their being there closed the door and headed down the stairs with Gwyn.
Gwyn took her hand in his; he blushed and smiled sheepishly.
“Is this alright?” he gave her hand a slight squeeze.
Megan remained motionless for a moment. Then, as if remembering herself, gently gripped Gwyddion's hand in response. "Yea," was all she said in reply, brushing and leaning playfully against his shoulder as they walked.
She tried her hardest not to blush at that moment, and was glad that any light they did have was trained out in front of them and not on her. The walk back was not nearly as nerve racking as the walk there. Megan was not concerned about unseen monsters at this point. Though one thought did nag at her mind, even more so when they made it back to the tapestry hidden entrance. They were late for class, and still had not gotten her book.
It was too late for that anyway, the best thing to be done was to just get to class. She'd just have to share a book with someone. So they checked the hallways and made their way back downstairs together.
The charms teacher had obviously been working there too long, and didn't put up much of a fight over their tardy excuse. This, Megan believed, only made things a little more difficult. Students started to whisper as the two entered. Megan had no doubt that gossip would start no sooner than the minute class ended, but she didn't really care. She really didn't really have a reason to be embarrassed of Gwyddion and had no wish to go looking for one.
Gwyddion’s mouth went very dry and his heart felt as though it had lodged it self in his throat as he waited for Megan’s reply. And then she said “Yea” and gripped his hand. A huge smile spread across his face and blissful feeling washed over him. He knew he was beet red because his ears were burning up but it didn’t matter. He didn’t want the walk back to Hogwarts to end and there was no urge to rush back.
In spite of still being short one book they entered the classroom together and Megan handled the teacher’s questions brilliantly. Gwyn stuffed his book in her hand and when she looked back at him he whispered for her to take it then he sat down at the first empty seat beside a guy from Ravenclaw.
“Cheers mate, mind if I share your book? The surprised Ravenclaw student looked at Gwyn who was smiling. “My names Gwyddion.” he said under his breath.
Gwyn tried to focus on the lesson and what they had missed during the first half of the double class. Try as he might to focus his mind and his eyes always wandered to where Megan sat. This did not go unnoticed, both Andi and Kade were giving him puzzled looks and Gwyn was sure they weren’t the only ones. There would be an avalanche of questions from those who knew him and gossip and looks from those who didn’t. It was always this way but Gwyn didn’t care who said what as long as Megan wasn’t being badgered or upset. The class finally ended and it only took Kade two strides to get to Gwyn.
“What’s going on with you and Megan and where were you?” Kade asked.
“We went on a stroll to Hogsmead.” Gwyn said with all seriousness. "As for the rest, well you’ll figure it out. I’ll fill you in on Hogsmead at lunch.”
Gwyn left Kade who had a shocked expression on his face.
Gwyn waited for Megan as the class filed out and as she walked past he slipped his hand in hers and they walked out of class into the hallway together.
It was lunch time which meant heading up to the Gryffindor Tower and dropping off their books before going to the Great Hall for lunch. Many heads turned as they walked past holding hands and Gwyn was certain that the gossip mill was working at full speed but his only concern was that his difficulties and a roughneck reputation would tarnish Megan’s good character in the minds of others. Well he had work to do then to prove himself to them and Dumbledore.
Later at lunch, Gwyddion and Megan told the group about their Hogsmeade trip. They left out the finer details, as it would be quite easy to be overheard in the Great Hall. But it was agreed that they would all have to plan a trip somtime, even if they all were already allowed to go with the school. It was a handy secret, but Megan couldn't help but wonder what else lay beyond the other two tunnels that Gwyddion and herself had discovered.
She didn't bring this up, but planned to do so at another time. Besides, there were other things to worry about at the moment. For example, the upcoming quidditch game against Ravenclaw. Megan did not want to have to choose between rooting for her own house and her best friend, so the thought of not attending had crossed her mind. She knew, though, that ban or no ban Emily and Andi would march up to the Gryffindor commonroom and drag her out if she even tried it.
Megan shrugged to herself as if it did not matter, and leaned against Gwyddion, despite the stares, while their friends finished up lunch.
After lunch Gwyn and Megan were separated. Gwyn had Defence against the Dark Arts while Megan endured History of Magic. The Dark Arts class was on the main floor and in this class there was someone sitting alone near the back so Gwyn popped in beside him.
“Hey cheers Argus.” Gwyn had sat down beside the same Ravenclaw guy from Charms. The fellow looked even less enthused than when Gwyn sat beside him in Charms.
Gywn rolled his eyes at boys reaction. “Look Argus I’m not going to do something crazy or stupid regardless of what you’ve heard about me. I simply stuck up for myself and that’s all so don’t look so bloody tense because I sat here. Lighten up.”
Argus looked at the desk and asked a question “You know about the Dark Arts don’t you? You came here from Durmstrang and there’re into the dark arts there?”
Gwyn lowered his voice. “Ya they’re into the Dark Arts and I know more than I like. I know enough to defend myself in most situations but I wouldn’t be stupid enough to pick a fight with an experienced wizard. The Slytherin seventh years were no problem but they were nothing but gits with inflated egos who thought they knew it all. In this coarse I might even be able to help someone from Ravenclaw.”
Argus didn’t think he needed any help and said so. Gwyn just shrugged and said nothing. The defensive spells and technique being taught Gwyn did know well. Much to his dislike the Professor saw Gwyn and had him cast both aggressive spells and defend himself against spells from the teacher. It took a while but Argus did in the end discuss the spells and the method of properly casting them. By the time the Defence Against the Dark Arts class was over all Gwyn wanted to do was head up to the common room.
In the common room Gwyn saw Megan sitting on the couch alone. He walked over and plopped down beside her putting his arm around her shoulders.
“What an afternoon. I missed you in the Defence against the Dark Arts. Ruddy teacher used me as his bloody punching bag, like I to be doing that needed that.”
Megan snuggled in and lay against Gwyn and rested her head on his shoulder. “You’ve got a reputation and for now you’re going to have to live with it.” Megan said sleepily.
“Ya I guess so.” was all Gwyn said in reply. The two of them sat there together for the better part of an hour ignoring the looks they got and the whispers. Their affection was now public and something to gossip about but in a few days that would pass. They both had Charms work to catch up on which they did together before supper. During supper the talk turned to the up coming Quidditch game against Ravenclaw. It was awkward because Emily played on the Ravenclaw team. It would have been easier had the game been against one of the other houses but it was Gwyn’s first game and he had to play to win.
Emily, as a result of the upcoming Quidditch game against Gryffindor, had decided to sit at her own table at supper that night. Ever since both she and Kade had joined their respective Quidditch teams in second year, there had always been one match that she had looked forward to with more anticipation than the rest - the Ravenclaw vs. Gryffindor match. It always made things awkward for a few days after, because one of them had to lose. The only good thing was that they weren't both seekers - that would have made things even more awkward.
She tried not to brood over this, but ended up sitting alone silently picking at her food, until the team captain and keeper sixth-year Terrance Donovan took a seat next to her. He looked worried, and Emily abandoned her food at once.
"Is something wrong?" She asked.
"Yeah," He said, "Amanda's sick - she can't play in the match." He was talking about Amanda Cunnings, who was a chaser on the Ravenclaw team. Emily remembered the conversation in the Ravenclaw common room a little while ago, and it occurred to her that Amanda, apart from being Muggle-born, was not popular with the Slytherins.
"But shouldn't the Matron be able to fix her before then?" Terrance - Terry to his friends - shook his head slowly.
"That's what really worries me. She was hit by some sort of jinx. The Matron didn't say as much, but I think it was some sort of dark magic." Emily felt herself pale a bit, and stood up.
"I'm going to go see her," She told Terry, and hurried off to the hospital wing.
~
Unfortunately when Emily got to the hospital wing, she found that Amanda wasn't in any shape to recieve visitors. Though the Matron let her in, she only let Emily look at Amanda for a moment to assure her that she was, in fact, all right. In Emily's inexpert opinion, she looked anything but all right; Her normally pinkish skin was nearly white, and her face looked somewhat gaunt, and though Emily couldn't be sure, her skin looked clammy. She also noted the look on the Matron's face - this had to be dark magic.
But why would someone jinx - or hex - one of the Ravenclaw chasers? That made no sense - if the match was going to be against Slytherin, she may have believed it of the opposing team, but no one in Gryffindor would ever hex a Ravenclaw. Megan left the Infirmary, frowning, and nearly ran into Professor Merrythought - the Defense against the Dark Arts professor, and also head of Ravenclaw.
"Professor?" She asked, "Have you come to see Amanda? Is something wrong?" Professor Merrythought paused for a moment - she was an older, severe-looking woman, with blonde hair streaked with silver that she kept cropped short in a bob. Emily had heard rumors that she was going to retire this year - though Emily hoped not; she was a good teacher, and a fair and clever woman.
"There's always something wrong when a student in Hogwarts has been attacked," She replied, not unkindly. Emily knew this was all she would get out of the Professor on this subject, so she quickly switched.
"Professor, also - Amanda's one of the chasers on our Quidditch team and we don't have an alternate - not after two of our chasers left last year. I was wondering if there was any way we could reschedule?" Professor Merrythought pursed her lips.
"I'll discuss it with the other heard of house to see if I can't arrange something, since this is the first game and we haven't begun the tournament process for House Cup yet." Emily nodded, relieved; She knew that the Quidditch matches worked on a sort of tournament chart, though it was mostly based on points. Since this was the first game, the order of matches could be rewritten without skewing anything.
"Thank you," Emily said, and Professor Merrythought gave her a friendly nod before walking briskly into the hospital wing, leaving Emily to wander on her own back to Ravenclaw tower; after the startling news that a muggle-born student had been attacked, she wasn't feeling very hungry anymore.
(OOC: Sorry if anyone was really looking forward to the Ravenclaw-Gryffindor match, but it's a bit anticlimactic having it happen so early. And I advanced the plot a smidge! Go me!)
Emily's absence from the dinner table worried Megan. The two had the discussed the mixed views in Ravenclaw, so the Gryffindors weren't all that comfortable with sitting at their table. Emily and Andrea didn't seem to mind coming to visit them, so Megan had assumed everything was okay.
But then Gwyddion happened. And Megan was happy. Aside from sitting next to Emily in class, it seemed Megan was seeing her friend less and less. Emily had not commented on all the extra time spent with the boy, but that wasn't exactly a good thing. Megan had made a mental note to ask her friend what she thought on the matter, as Ravenclaws always had something to say, but she never got around to it. And then Emily openly decided to sit away from them.
Megan told herself that this was due to the upcoming game, that this was something Emily always did... but her doubts remained. She played absently with her food and stole a few glances at Gwyddion, who was sitting next to her. Megan was willing enough to admit that she did enjoy the extra attention. But she wondered how she would handle the situation if Emily were to say that her late behavior was ridiculous. Emily's opinion meant more to Megan than the Ravenclaw was obviously aware of.
Gwyddion noticed that she was no longer eating and stopped to ask if she was alright. Megan smiled and just replied that she was tired. She had hardly finished her sentence when, out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Emily leaving the Great Hall. Megan's attention immediately left Gwyddion, and she was too preoccupied to realize that he probably saw through her lie.
Megan sighed dejectedly and reached down to give his hand a light squeeze. "Gwyn, I'll see you back in the common room. I'm just... I won't be long."
She looked around for Andrea as she stood and, making sure she was done eating, linked arms with the unsuspecting Ravenclaw and dragged her off.
Having no idea where Emily ran off to, Megan could only assume that she went back to the Ravenclaw common room. With the extra house tension, she wasn't about to march up to a random Ravenclaw and ask.
Megan prompted Andrea on the way. If Emily had said something to Andrea, she wanted to know. She decided that Andrea was just as important to her as Emily was, so it didn't hurt to ask her opinion either.
When the two arrived at the common room, Megan was surprised to receive some of the dirtiest looks she had yet to encounter that quidditch season... and she wasn't so sure this was about quidditch. Megan had not yet heard of Amanda, but something told her it would probably be best not to enter - even if Andrea was there.
"Uh... I'll just wait here," she said, suddenly feeling very uncomfortable. "Could you go get Emily?"
Whatever Andrea said, Megan could not be persuaded to enter the Ravenclaw common room. She knew when she was not wanted.
When Andrea left, Megan brought up a few defensive and offensive spells to mind, keeping her hand clenched around her wand behind her back. She felt vulnerable standing there alone, and even backed up against a wall to try and appear calmer than she felt.
Students passed her on their way into their common room, but aside from the emotional tension she felt, they did not bother her.
It seemed like forever to Megan, though it was probably only a couple minutes, before Andrea finally came back out and reported that Emily was not around. Having no idea where to look next, Megan muttered her thanks and set off for her own common room.
Being in the state she was in, Megan couldn't know that Emily was just around the corner. The two missed each other within minutes, and went off to their respective dorms.
~
Megan trudged off toward Gryffindor tower lost in her own hurt thoughts.
Two hallways and three staircases later, she could see Gwyddion standing outside of the portrait hole. She said nothing as she walked up and slid into his arms for an unannounced hug. Megan thought of dinner earlier that night, and realized that it was a bit unfair of her that she had run off with no explanation. She sighed, muttered a brief summary of where she'd been and what she'd done, then let him go and headed for her dorm.
((sorry bout all the Emo, dudes. just wanted to see if I could keep michi and Alex as active as possible. [yes that means you have to post ;D ]))
((OOC: Michi, if I have too much involving Emily or there is something you want edited, I will be happy to do so. Just PM me.))
Andi trudged up to her dorm, thinking about what had just taken place. She couldn’t quite put her finger on what had just happened. Megan seemed almost distressed about something and when Emily walked into the common room Andi made to go after Megan, but she was trudging a cold trail, Megan would be long gone to the Gryffindor common room. When she arrived back at the dorm she found Emily sitting on her bed reading.
“Hey, are you ok? I didn’t see you at dinner.”
Emily sighed heavily and waited a minute before replying, as if trying to figure how to properly word what she was about to say.
“I’m worried, that’s all. Did you here about the attack on Amanda Cunnings? It was so unexpected. It’s not as though I wasn’t expecting more to happen after what’s been happening with Slytherin…but now someone is attacking random students. The only reasons I can think of as to why is that she’s a). Muggle Born or b). she’s on the Ravenclaw Quidditch team.”
“I know what you mean. I have heard about the attack, but I haven’t gone into see Amanda. Apparently she’s not well enough to even see anyone! It sounds like Dark magic to me, and it makes me very uneasy, especially after my run in with Riddle.”
“Haven’t you told the teachers about what happened? You could get his Head-Boyship and Prefects badge stripped from him!”
“That’s the thing, I’m terrified to!” Andi cried despairingly. “He’ll know I told the teachers and he’ll come after me! Damnit, I sometimes wish I never went to that Slug Club meeting!”
She could feel her ears and face growing hot, a thing that happened whenever tears were coming on, but she bit them back down.
“Anyway, Megan seemed rather distressed or troubled about something. She kept going on about how we had to find you. I’m not sure what’s going on…but it seems like you two have been rather distant lately, other than for Quidditch reasons I mean. She defiantly need to speak with her. You know what? Let’s go.”
“What?” Emily looked up with surprise written all over her face.
“She wouldn’t stop going on about it! It’s not past curfew yet so we’re going to go and see her now.”
And with that, Andi grabbed Emily’s protesting arm and dragged her friend up to the Gryffindor common room. When they arrived Andi looked into Emily’s eyes and saw hesitation looking back at her. Clearly she didn’t want to go into the Gryffindor common room.
“Oh, come on!”
Still remembering the password Andi spoke it and the portrait opened up revealing the Gryffindor common room. With that she dragged Emily into the common room, completely disregarding the unwritten rule that they shouldn’t be in there.
As Megan turned the handle that led into her dormitory, the voices of Andrea and Emily floated up the hallway towards her. Megan disregarded this at first. The sounds were too familiar to her to find them odd right away. But eventually she caught on and edged away from her dorm and to the balcony side of the stairs.
Cautiously she peered over the ledge, wondering if that really was her friends standing down once again in the Gryffindor common room. Megan visibly brightened to some degree and even had a little spring in her step as she trotted back down the stairs. The two girls were challenged before Megan even said hello.
David and Justin, the two boys who originally decided to kick the Ravenclaws out, happened to be finishing up that night's homework in the common room. The minute the girls walked in, their jaws dropped to the floor. Hadn't they made themselves clear a few weeks ago?
"What are you doing here? It's almost curfew!" David's steady growl carried off to Megan's ears.
"Odd that they choose to drop by this time of night." Justin accused.
"Knock it off!" Megan, now completely overwhelmed by the days happenings, answered their challenge. Her hand was clenched in a white knuckle grip around her wand, and it infuriated her to find out that the two boys were positioned likewise. She stalked forward and came to stand between her friends and the two boys.
"They aren't wanted here anymore," Justin stated calmly, knowing Megan to be a year younger than him. The extra notch in his belt boosted his confidence just fine.
Megan tried to calm herself down, to convince herself that it wasn't worth the trouble, so she ushered her friends towards the stairs. The boys couldn't follow up there anyway.
David's hand flashed out and away from his robes menacingly, bringing his wand up to bear.
Megan, who was already angry and tired, had her wand up even faster. With a growl, she aimed for the middle of his chest. "Flippendo!" she cried, ducking the minute her wand responded.
David flew backwards and into the ash urn, the loud clang of metal against stone echoing through the quiet common room and dormitorys.
In one of the rather high backed chairs Adrian sat cross-legged with a large text book on his lap detailing this year’s lessons on Defense Against the Dark Arts. He was intent on studying for the next lesson when someone brought up the condition Amanda was in. That was also one of the reasons he was reading so deeply into the tome. If Amanda had truly been hexed then maybe there was something in here that could help. Something that the teachers somehow missed. He sighed as he realized that it was such a long shot and probably useless.
Having heard the conversation about the sick Ravenclaw repeat its self twice now he closed the book and moved it off to an end table. He had read the same line five times anyways as his attention was continuously drawn back to the condition of his fellow Ravenclaw. Pinching the bridge of his nose he shook his head lightly.
Slowly merging in with the gathered mass, the brown haired fourth year listened more intently on what they had to say. "She’s jinxed, or hexed at least, I'm sure of it." an older boy said as he looked around at the gathered students. He appeared to be the leader of the conversation and probably knew the most about her condition. "And what’s worse is that the game is days away and we're down a chaser."
Adrian cleared his throat, gathering everyone’s attention. "I uhm. I've played as a chaser before, I think I could fill in for her if she doesn’t get better in time." the leader of the group, who turned out to be Terry, stared at Adrian and scratched his chin in thought. "You've seen me fly Terry, you know I can do it." He said with a frown as he saw the unmistakable look on his face as if the 6th year was unsure of he should trust Adrian. "Let me prove it to you then, at the next practice." he said with sudden conviction as he crossed his arms over his chest.
"You know, I've seen him fly too a couple times, he’s actually pretty good." one of the bigger boys said. He was a beater and had a rather burly set of arms on him. Adrian nodded thanks to the beater for backing his skill.
Seeming to be mildly convinced Terry nodded slightly. The sixth year started naming off all the players to which Adrian nodded, knowing some very well and at least hearing of others. After that he was told of when practice was and what to bring. "I'll be sure to be there. I wont let you all down." he said with a grin then was clapped on the back by Terry.
It was at this time that Thatcher walked into the common room and took an assessment of everyone up. "It's getting close to curfew, all of you. As much as I'd like to let us stay up and think up ideas about who did this to Amanda and how we can fix it, we aren't allowed. If things start to look better she might be able to have visitors, but don't hold your breath." he said in a somber tone. One by one the students dispersed to their beds. Adrian walked over to Thatcher after some of the crowd had left.
"Is she really that bad Thatch?" He asked his old friend in a hushed tone.
"I'm not sure, no one is sure. They don't know what to do." He said quietly. "I'll look into it more tomorrow but like I said, don't hold your breath." As Adrian turned to leave Thatcher grabbed him by the shoulder. "You're pretty interested in...well everything right?" he asked the younger boy.
Adrian cracked a smile. "Why do you ask?" he said in a lighter tone now that they were off the topic of the downed chaser.
"The student that got transferred in here this year, Gwyn he's called, he's from Durmstrang and I thought you might want to learn more about it. I know Andrew, the Gryffindor prefect, pretty well and I think I can get a way to pass your name to him."
"Ooh, yeah I've heard about that school, dark arts and all. I'd love to look into it more!" he said enthusiastically.
"Thought you would." Thatch said with a grin. "I'll look into it tomorrow." he said then moved off to work on something else.
Post by Gwyn on Sept 22, 2007 22:43:41 GMT -8
It had been fortunate that Andrew was on hand when Megan had lost her temper the night before and sent David flying across the common room. The row over Emily and Andrea coming in the Gryffindor common room had now been settled for the time being. Justin’s attempt to use his wand against Megan and the two Ravenclaw was cut short when Gwyddion jumped off the stairs leading to his dorm and tackled Justin. Andrew and two of his friends separated the two boys before any real damage was done. Justin saw to David and the two left the common room but not before accusing Megan of “acting like he would” pointing at Gwyn. The comment had angered Gwyn who was at Megan’s side; he took a step toward them his fists clenched but was pulled back by Megan.
The next morning Gwyn and Megan were in the Great Hall finishing an early breakfast. Gwyn had been quiet and didn’t notice when Andrew came and sat across from them.
“Alright you two here’s how it is. Keep away from David and Justin for a few days and it’ll all blow over. I don’t think it would be good if Emily and Andrea were to show up in the common room for a few days either. Just till thing calm down.”
“That’s not fair. They had nothing to do with it.” Megan hissed under her breath so others wouldn’t hear.
“Listen we don’t need any more trouble. Professor Dumbledore doesn’t know about it and I want to keep it that way. I don’t want another reason for Gwyn to get hauled up to Dumbledore’s office. Let it go Megan and it’ll pass. I know Emily and Andrea are all right. Just trust me on this.” Andrew gets up.
“Oh before I forget, Gwyn I know the Ravenclaw Prefect Thatch and he’s asked me if I’d talk to you.”
“What about?” Gwyn looks up.
“There’s a 4th year, Adrian something or other. He’d like to talk to you... about Durmstrang. It’s not what you think. He...” Gwyn cut him off.
“No...I’m not interested in being the local freak. Tell him to go read a book, they do a lot of that or so I’m told.” Gwyn’s tone was bitter.
“You got the wrong end of the stick mate, that’s not why he wants to talk to you. He’s interested in the school and not what you know or what happened there. It wouldn’t hurt just to talk to him. It wouldn’t hurt the relationship between our houses either especially if it’s you who makes the effort.” Andrew looks down hard at Gwyddion.
Gwyddion’s anger flares and he starts to stand. “What the bloody hell does that mean?”
Megan grabs his arm and pulls him back down and glares at Andrew. “You’ve got a bloody nerve. You of all people Andrew know better than to say something like that.”
“Shit... all right I was out of line. But what can it hurt; all he wants to do is talk. He just wants to know about the school that’s all, nothing about you. That’s what Thatch said.”
“I’m not going out of my way to find him or make time for him. If he wants to talk he can find me.” Gwyn gets up and takes a piece of toast. “You know on the mainland they butter their toast hot. It’s soggy and disgusting. I wonder if he wants to know about that? Not likely eh Andrew.” Megan gets up and wraps her arm through Gwyns. “You’re a good mate Andrew... but I’ll only talk to him because you asked.”
Gwyn and Megan left the Great Hall but instead of returning to the common room he pulled around to the great oak doors. He pulled open one of the great doors and took Megan by her hand and lead her outside and down the stairs to a spot out sight.
“You surprised me last night. I don’t think anyone will dare cross swords with you anytime soon.” Gwyn sighs. “I... I want to make sure you’re not upset or bothered by what Justin said last night about you acting like I would. ”
“Is that why you’ve been so quiet this morning? Why you almost lost it with Andrew? Look at me Gwyn... look at me... I could care less what Justin said, ok? It doesn’t matter to me what he thinks. I don’t care what anyone thinks Gwyn.”
Gwyn smiles relieved and give Megan a big hug. He holds her close and kisses her on the forehead.
“You’re something else you know that.” He gently puts his hand under her chin and lifts her head. He looks down into her eyes and kisses her.
(Joint post between Thalion and I))
Gwyddion closed his eyes and held onto Megan relishing the moment. Neither of them heard the sounds of other students coming outside and it wasn’t until the whistles and the comments were flying that they broke their embrace. Red faced they both walked into the school and went to the common room. Some twenty minutes later with books in hand and one quick kiss they went to their different classes.
Gwyn made his way to his Defense Against the Dark Arts Class on the first floor and stood around with the other students waiting for the class door to be opened. He saw Ravenclaw student staring at him so he turned his back to him commenting to himself on what a prat the guy was.
That’s gotta be him... Adrian thought as he stared at the boy across the way from the doorway. He had asked around the common room with a couple of people about “That Gwyn boy” and had gotten a general description of him and a few classes he had taken. It still bothered him that he hadn’t realized it until today but then again he hadn’t really been interested in him until hearing about his recent exploits. After seeing the dirty look he got from him and turn away he clenched his jaw. “Blood and ashes, you aren’t going to make this easy are you?” he whispered to himself as he tried to work through the crowd to the standoffish boy.
Just as he finally reached the dark haired boy the teacher popped out from around the corner, rushing down the hallway with his robes whipping around behind him. The students gathered at the door started whispering to themselves as he approached that he must have been up to something, because professor Lauchlan was hardly ever late. “Quiet students, quiet. Class will begin as soon as I’m at my desk so all of you find seats quickly.” He said as he did something to the door that allowed it to be opened. As the students shuffled in Adrian caught Gwyn’s eye. “Gwyn, is it?” he asked as the other boy was forced to cross his path.
Gwyn stepped aside as Professor Lauchlan hurried past him into the class. The last time he’d been in this class he sat with a Ravenclaw guy but he wasn’t around this morning. It didn’t matter to Gwyn he’d just take a seat at the back again. Gwyn noticed the same student still looking at him and was surprised when he forced his way toward him cutting in front. Gwyn instinctively grabbed his wand just in case.
“Gwyn, is it?” he asked.
“Ya it is, who are you?” Gwyn asked.
“I’m Adrian.” He said extending his hand.
Gwyn shook his hand “Oh right you’re the guy Andrew mentioned. Well you didn’t waste any time did you. Listen I’m sitting on my own so ah why don’t you join me if you can stand sitting with someone from Gryffindor.” Gwyn thought he’d answer a couple of questions during class and be done with the kid.
“Just the last guy I sat with made his opinion quite clear what he thought of sitting with me. Wouldn’t want to tarnish that polished finish Ravenclaws give themselves.” Gwyn grabbed a stool and sat at a back table not caring where Adrian wanted to sit. It was easier to answer his questions at the back of the room than the front where it seemed the Ravenclaws tended to cluster. “So what is it you want to know about?”
Taking a stool and sitting down with the hostile Gryffindor, Adrian leaned on the desk. “Durmstrang. I’m sure Andrew told you that I wanted to know about it, I wanted to know what it’s like there. Is it true that they’re less restrained when teaching about the dark arts there?” He glanced up at Lauchlan who was reading out of the book on today’s lesson.
Well here goes. Thought Gwyn. I’ll give him a bunch of stuff to think about and we’ll be done with it. “Everyone thinks there some kind of mystery that surrounds Durmstrang but really there isn’t. They’re a school of pure bloods only and they really force that point and drive it into you. That makes students think they’re better or more powerful than the non pure bloods so that’s the environment you grow up in. They teach a lot of old magic and it’s true that they teach the Dark Arts. Almost all of the old magic they teach is dark. Spells and curses are more powerful because they are taught in the old or even original language, and the counter curses are pretty much forgotten today. Even here at Hogwarts the old ways have been long gone and it’s pretty soft living here.
“At Durmstrang we live in what’s called barracks and you’re loyal to that barrack no matter what. You’d get a shit kicking if you were caught doing what we’re doing and that would come from the guys in your barrack. I had it happen more than once in my first year. The food is pretty basic nothing like here. You train hard every day, physical strength is as important as magic and you camp out in the forest for a week at a time. You go with nothing except what you’re wearing with ten from your barrack and learn to live in the forest and survive. It’s definitely more like the ways were in the past. It’s harsh but it grows on you and you build a loyalty to your school, barrack and mates.”
Gwyn continued on and all the while Prof. Lauchlan was talking about the lesson. He figured Adrian would be pissed at missing what the teacher said. “There are things taught that are called unforgivable here but we learn how to use those skills from our first year. Animals suffer and die because of it but you’re able to shut that out. Fear is a weakness, disloyalty is severely punished, and running away brands you a coward. They teach you how to survive no matter what it takes. I could be in a seventh year DA class and I would find it as boring as this one and for potions it’s the same. I’m not trying to impress you but you wanted know. If I had to go back to Durmstrang I would but I’d rather be here. I know what I learnt there is looked down on here but I’m glad to know what I do and it’s already saved me here more than once, you react instantly and instinctively, and if I have to I’ll use everything I know. To lose a fight or battle is to die. That’s what they do to you there, they slowly erode your conscience; and I’ve got no regrets about anything that went on in Durmstrang or here. You know muggles tried to purge Durmstrang repeatedly in the Middle Ages and died trying. Even today muggles go nowhere near the old forests for twenty or thirty miles around Durmstrang. They did what they had to survive back then and they still teach us those same skills and attitude. Survival is everything” Gwyn voice was cold and passionate. He looked back up at Adrian and was surprised that he was still looking at him and not the Professor.
“It sounds like half this stuff is illegal. Is the Ministry aware of what happens there? I’ve read what I can about it, along with other schools but they never really expanded on Durmstrang. I can see why, they probably don’t want to advertise all the teachings the others would find underhanded and unforgivable. Some of it sounds like the military. My pa, he’s a muggle, had to go fight in the war and he wrote home and told me about some of the stuff that happened. Do the parents know what goes on there?”
After he asked the question he felt somewhat foolish, the parents probably did. They probably went there themselves and send their kids there to honor the tradition. The thought of all those wizards and witches with haughty standards and narrow views on bloodlines, all very adept and powerful and deadly dark magic, made him shiver. “Isn’t it a bit dangerous teaching kids that pure bloods are the only worthy wizards then giving them the spells to purge all the half bloods from the world? Or what if they decided to strike back at the muggles for attacking them in the first place? Muggles can’t defend against spells. Hell from what I’ve heard it sounds like half the wizard population can’t defend against them, maybe more. It’s all rather unsettling, is that why you left?”
During the time that Gwyn had been talking Adrian had forgotten about the lesson. It was rather surprising seeing as how he made it a point not to miss lessons. He somehow found this more important though and besides, he could always read the book and catch up. He might not get another chance to talk to this boy seeing as how hostile he was being.
Hmm the kid actually listened. Gwyn said to himself. And the questions were not those of someone wanting all the gore and exploits. Gwyn though for a moment and then answered Adrian but his tone was not as hostile or cold.
Tradition does play a part in going to Durmstrang and some parents want their kids to go there to harden them up. I can remember my mother saying that a few years at Durmstrang wouldn’t hurt but they didn’t expect it to be three years. Not everyone is a muggle hater, it depends a lot on how things are at home I guess. No one speaks of it but a lot of students have muggles for friends back home. I don’t hate muggles never did. Megan is muggle born and I couldn’t care less, she’s great and I really care for her a lot.”
“You see in the eastern countries around Durmstrang the attitude is still old world. The people think different live differently. There are schools like Hogwarts in North America and other places that don’t think that way anymore but Durmstrang still teaches survival better than any other school. The people of the east keep mostly to themselves so the philosophy of Durmstrang stays pretty much in that region. As for the law they have their own laws and ways of doing things. The Ministry is tolerated and they do some things together but for day to day stuff the Ministry knows it would be war if they marched in and tried to take over. We were taught a bit about the Ministry and the relationship but for the most part they are strongly distrusted though out the region. I’ve done what’s considered illegal many times and used unforgivable curses and not always on animals but that would make me a good Auror. I’m not trying to justify what I’ve done but sometimes it’s the only way to move on or to be respected, and that’s important there, strength and ruthlessness are very important. Curses like the one I heard your chaser got hexed with are old, that’s why they aren’t sure what it is. A Professor or seventh year student of Durmstrang would know what to do. I’d like to catch the bastard who did it and give him some of his own back. Whoever he or she is they’ve studied the old ways or some of them anyway.” The school bell tolled and the class was over.
Both boys were surprised by the bell and neither had listened to Professor Lauchlan.
Caught completely off guard by the passage of time Adrian looked around bewildered. “It seems we talked through the whole lesson.” He commented softly as Lauchlan walked up the row of tables to stand at the doorway to wave everyone out and hand them a piece of parchment detailing homework. When it was his turn to take a parchment he sucked in his breath.
“Did you like todays lesson Adrian? I know how you usually fancy this class. I was rather surprised that you sat in the back today.”
Looking up at the professor he flashed a quick smile. “Oh I loved it, brilliant lesson and how you presented it today professor. The time flew by me.” He inspected the paper and felt a twinge. He mostly understood what they had to write about but that’s only because he was pouring over his books looking for a cure for Amanda. Looking back at Gwyn he pursed his lips wondering if he would understand it without the lesson to explain then almost smacked himself in the face. Of course he knew, he probably knew as much as the instructor did! He decided to wait for the Gryffindor outside the class regardless.
When he finally came out he started walking down the hall with him. “Hey listen, I’m glad we could talk. You really cleared up some questions I had. I heard you’re on the quidditch team, chaser right? I’ll probably be filling in for Amanda while shes-“ he paused not knowing how to phrase it. Saying that she was hexed made his blood boil and he despised the thought of someone hexing her like that. She was such a nice girl. “While she’s unable to play. No hard feeling on what happens on the field right?” he said with a smirk. “I better get of to my next class, I’ll see you around right?”
How or when it happened Gwyn wasn’t quite sure but he didn’t mind Adrian at all. He didn’t pressure Gwyn for any information about himself or question what had happened the last several days and didn’t give him one of the strange looks he was getting accustomed to. He was alright.
“You’re playing Quidditch? Hey that’s alright and ya no hard feelings at all. I’ll see you around or in class. Cheers Adrian.” Adrian nodded his goodbye then the two of them split up and went in their own direction for the next class.
((Most of Emily's dialouge was provided by michi. Hooray for filler posts?))
History of Magic was always a class to be slept through. Students walked in the door and immediately became depressed. So it was no surprise that Megan's peers labeled her clinically insane for the day when she walked in with the biggest, silliest grin they'd ever seen.
Professor Tombs, who had never had such a reaction to one of his lectures, immediately assumed that he had finally gotten through to the girl who usually sat nodding off in the back of his class. He made a mental note to teach on the giant wars more often. His voice switched from the usual monotone bass drone to one that was, at the very least, mildy ammused. One eye always glanced back to that ridiculous smile in the sea of frowns and soft snores to make sure he still had his one-person audience. He threw a trivial question Megan's way to test his new theory.
Megan, who really wasn't even in the room mentally, was only saved by Emily's uncovered paper. She gained 10 points for Gryffindor for two questions, until Emily finally noticed Megan's wandering eye. Disgusted by Megan's cheating, she quickly covered her paper in hopes that Gryffindor would no longer be so lucky when it came to earning house points.
This only made Megan's grin all the wider.
Professor Tombs finally got the idea that it was not he who was ammusing the inconsistent Gryffindor and returned to his normal drone. Muggle borns! he thought to himself. None of them seem to appriciate our history! Though considering the state of his class, the old professor refused to remark on the lack of interest from the pure-blooded students.
The class soon ended and the students started to quickly file out.
"Did you get hit by a stray cheering charm on your way to class?" Emily asked, as she and Megan vacated the room. "Or," she added with a devious smile. "Did something happen with Gwyn?"
Megan turned a deep shade of red, but sighed happily just the same. She stuttered a bit before forcing the simple reply of "yes," out of her mouth. Emily laughed and shook her head, clearly waiting on details.
Clutching her books to her chest, Megan worked up the ability to speak like a normal fully functional human being. She left out her firsthand confusion of how to deal with the situation, and her secondhand embarrasment of being too unexperienced to know how to reciprocate. But Gwyddion hadn't seemed to mind, so Megan was not so sure that it mattered.
Andrea joined the two girls when they reached the staircases, and was just in time to catch Megan's tale. Emily chuckled or smiled at just about everything their Gryffindor friend said, and it came to Megan's understanding that she approved of the boy.
"But he just kissed you? Didn't ask you on a Hogsmead trip or something?"
Megan's smile disappated for the first time since that morning. Something in Emily's tone wasn't right. "Why?" was all Megan offered.
"Megan, its my job to be concerned! Don't look at me like that! I don't think Gwyn is out to use you. I'm just saying be careful." She gave Megan's shoulder a pat to show that she still approved, regretting ever bringing the topic up.
Megan thought about it for a moment before realizing... she really didn't care! She got kissed that morning and her smile returned tenfold at the very thought. She set aside Emily's comment and strolled through the Charms room door with her two friends at her side.
Emily and Megan took a seat in front of Gwyddion and Argus, while Kade and Andrea took the front row.
Professor Dalton started a review on summoning charms. Megan accidentally hit Kade, who was sitting in fron of her, with a book as her gaze shifted over towards Gwyddion. She apologized profusely and decided to concentrate on the charm.
((Sorry for the ending lack. So not my fault.))
(OOC Another filler complements of Thalion and Bessain.)
The last few stragglers had left the common room over an hour before and were by now all asleep. Gwyn sat snuggled with Megan in front of the fire in the common room. He was gently stroking Megan’s hair and watching as the last coals of the fire burned low. He was at that moment more content and happy than at any other time he could remember. Megan moaned softly and opened her eyes. The common room was warm, dark and quiet. Megan reached over and took Gwyn’s hand in hers. It was with some surprise that Andrew walked in on them some ten minutes later. Andrew was startled by them and seemed a bit on edge. Gwyn also noticed that he wasn’t dressed for bed but he wasn’t in Hogwarts dress either.
“Hey Andrew what’s up, don’t usually see you about at this time of night.” Andrew moved into the light of a lone candle. Gwyn took his legs off the table and sat up. “Something wrong mate, you going out?”
Andrew rather nervously smiled. “Ah ya I have to go out for a bit with Thatch and Adrian. We’re all looking into something together.” Andrew pulled a pair of gloves out of his pocket and quickly stuffed them back in. “Look I don’t want to bother you two so just forget about this alright. Listen I got to go they’ll will be waiting for me.”
Something was definitely wrong, this wasn’t Andrew, something was up and Gwyn could smell trouble brewing.
Gwyn lowered his voice “No I won’t forget this mate, are you in some sort of trouble? Something’s not right here and I would know. Look Andrew if you need some sort of help with something I’ll be .....
Andrew shook his head and cut him off, he spoke in a near whisper. “No it’s nothing like that...oh alright.” He looks around. “Thatch, Adrian and I are going to Hogsmead; we’re taking that tunnel you two found.”
Gwyn half laughed and coughed at the same time. “Adrian, Thatch and you? Adrian and Thatch from Ravenclaw. You must be kidding me? They think reading a book on the principals of Portkeys is an exciting lark. You and Thatch... but you’re ruddy Prefects mate. You don’t have a clue what you’re doing and you’ll get your asses kicked if Dippet or Dumbledore find out.”
“Well you two seemed to manage it well enough.” Andrew sounded resentful at the remark. “Well if we’re so inept why you don’t come along and show us how it’s done”
The challenge caught Gwyn unprepared, he just sat there lost for the right words. “This can’t be bloody happening. I’ve fallen asleep and I’m dreaming. For god sakes Megan wake me up.”
Megan yawned and chuckled at the same time. "Now where, exactly did you have in mind to run off to while in Hogsmead?" she asked, stretching a bit before sitting upright and readying at any second to sprint for the stairs to change. She had heard of 7th years sneaking off for a drink, but Andrew was only in his 5th. Perhaps someone was buying for him? In any case, it had been a long day and this seemed a glorious way to make it even longer
“What?” Gwyn said almost shouting as he stood. He was stunned by Megan’s response. “You’re saying we should go with them?” Megan had mischievous smile on her face.
“Well then that’s settled. Should be good for a lark, the five of us. I’ll wait for you to get changed.” Andrew seemed pleased.
Megan was gone up to her dorm but Gwyn held back.
“You know what’ll happen if we’re caught? I’ll get the blame and it’s back to Durmstrang. You of all bloody people... couldn’t you just have said nothing.”
“Well you can stay if you like; no one’s forcing you to come.” Andrew smirked
“Not bloody likely” Gwyn replied through clenched teeth before leaving to get changed.
Fifteen minutes later the three of them slipped behind the tapestry. Not use to doing this sort of thing and not expecting the two extra people Adrian and Thatcher thought two teachers had slipped behind the tapestry and caught them. After several minutes of delay while the two Ravenclaws got over their initial shock it was decided to continue to Hogsmead. Gwyn held onto Megan’s hand as the two of them took the lead. The journey was not a quick one. Megan and Gwyn had to stop repeatedly and wait for the other three to catch up. It seemed to three boys that someone was going to grab them any second so it took many stops to make sure they weren’t being followed.
They finally reached the door that lead into the Wizards Glad Rags warehouse. A quick word from Megan and the lock clicked open. After a few minutes to make sure no one was about they opened the door and entered the warehouse.
“So this is the wizard shop you told us about, so we’re really in Hogsmead then?” Andrew comments.
“It’s just outside that door.” Gwyn pointed. Thatch stood next to the door and unlocked it. Everyone stood there looking at him waiting for him to open the door.
“Well are you going to open it or not?” Gwyn asked sounding impatient.
Adrian, Thatch and Andrew just stood there. “We didn’t really talk about what we’d do if we actually got here. Now that we’re here I’m not so sure I want to go into the village.” Thatch’s voice sounded weak, he was worried.
Gwyn had had enough. “You’ve dragged us along and now you’ve lost your bloody nerve. Why the hell doesn’t that surprise me.”
Megan stepped forward and pulled at the door, the panel opened with a screech.
“You’re not going to back out now, any of you.” Gwyn cringed a little at Megan’s words because going back now wasn’t really such a bad idea, but he stepped forward to the other side of the door.
“After you gentlemen.” Gwyn flourished his arm and bowed as a doorman would do.
Slowly and cautiously the boys took careful steps outside, always watching for the slightest movement in the dark.
“Hey we could close the door and lock it from the inside, then they’d have to walk back to Hogwarts.” A whack on the back of his head told him Megan wasn’t impressed with his comment. “I was just kidding.” Gwyn said rubbing the back of his head. Megan gave him a kiss on the cheek then took his hand and followed the others. Gwyn looked back, he suddenly had a bad feeling and stopped, Megan gave him a tug and he continued on.
The high street was deserted for the most part but it wasn’t a good idea to go walking up it. They kept mostly to the dark side alleys. Everybody saw him at the same time and ducked behind the fence. It was Riddle alright. They all watched him and followed him as best they could. Riddle went through town and walked into the Hogs Head Pub.
“Let’s go and see if we can see anything,” Gwyn said excitedly.
“Hold on Gwyn we’ve got to be careful, Riddle’s not the type to mess with. If he catches us here we’re all done for and out the door.” Adrian warned. “We have to keep to the dark and don’t let anyone see you at all.
They crept along the dark shadowed side of the building where no one could see. They found a small window that was not completely covered in grime; it allowed them to watch the goings on. Riddle was sitting at a table with two other men only slightly older than him. They were scruffily dressed but listened intently to whatever was being said. While they watched Thatch had gone back to the pubs storage yard and liberated five bottles of butter beer and left some money behind. When he got back Megan was the only one who questioned him regarding payment for the 5 bottles. They watched Riddle for over a half hour in the pub and when he stood they all ran back and stood in the shadows. They watched Riddle walk up the street and at the sound of a snap he vanished.
“That was interesting.” Gwyn commented. “Not even Riddle is allowed out at this time of night. I wonder what he’s up to?”
Megan checked her watch. “We better get back it’s getting late.”
Gwyn and Megan returned to the warehouse and waited for the others to catch up. Megan suddenly gasped and shrieked, Gwyn turned he saw a hand on her shoulder. His wand was up in a flash and a green light shot from it. A body fell backwards and hit the floor with a dull thump. Gwyn pulled Megan away and stepped in front of her in case there were more. The others came running in with their wands out.
“What’s going on?” Andrew asked as he ran in.
“Someone grabbed Megan from behind.” Gwyn said. He kept his wand ready while Thatch checked who it was.
“Oh crap, it’s Argus. Stupid git must have followed us. Argus you’re an idiot you know that.” Thatch said as he used the unbind charm.
“You!” Argus spat out at Gwyn. “Of course I knew it was you. It had to be you, who else would pull something like this for a lark. Getting yourself chucked out and dragging as many with you as you can, is that how you work Allardyce?! You’re a bloody cretin. You don’t belong here go back to where you come from!” Gwyn had enough, his fist sunk into Argus's stomach. It knocked the air out of him and he stumbled backwards into a rack of cloths knocking it down.
“For your information Argus no one forced anyone to come. The only reason I’m here was to make sure everyone got back. I had nothing to do with this, if you want to know anything ask your Prefect, here he is along with a mate of yours. And why are you here? Who forced you to come? I warrant you followed Thatch and Adrian and were as much interested in this tunnel as they were. Why didn’t you bring a teacher if you were so concerned? You wanted to be a part of this as much as the rest of us but didn't have the guts to ask? No you had to hide in the dark and follow us. You’d be up the swanny as far as we would you bloody twonk. Come on Megan let’s get back.”
Gwyn was upset by Argus’s accusations especially since he would have preferred to remain in the common room. The two of them arrived at the room behind the tapestry well ahead of the other boys. Megan stopped. “Gwyn wait.” She wrapped her arms around him and kissed him. She smiled and so did he. The anger was forgotten.
“Come on let’s get back.” Megan and Gwyn were able to get to their common room without being seen. They shared several long kisses before heading up to their dorms. Gwyn heard Andrew arrive some 15 minutes later and sat up in bed.
“Everything alright” Gwyn whispered.
“Ya no problems at all.” Andrew replied.
“What about Argus, is he alright?”
“Ya he’s fine. He won’t be saying anything to anyone any time soon. You ok?”
“I’m fine. The stupid git just pushed the wrong buttons.” Gwyn replied.
“Don’t worry about it, I shouldn’t have pushed you and Megan to come.
“We came because we wanted to and we’ll likely go back again. Night Andrew.”
