((OY! Where is everyone? Ya'll shouldn't be allowed to go running amuck in several US states, all at the same time! It unsettling.))
It took longer than Megan would have liked to get her ears back to normal. Even after Charms class she was still feeling a little disturbed. The feeling of her own body taking different form left a bad taste in her mouth... or atleast thats what she thought it was. There was no telling what had really caused her paranoia, since Emily's wand had been waved around her face almost all afternoon.
Megan finally decided to skip lunch and go back to her dorm to lay down instead. The lunch gossip would probably only revolve around anyone who managed to blow something up in class that day or quidditch. The later was more than likely.
Around people she didn't know, Megan was always rather quiet; she never really had much to contribute to a stranger's conversation. But around her friends, she was open enough... though they seemed used to her lack of noise. This case was no different. Without a word, she slipped away for the staircases as the group made for the Great Hall.
The familiar patterns of scarlet and gold outlined robes increased in number as she drew closer to the portrait hole. She was recognized by some of the people she passed, and paused briefly to return a greeting. When the painting of the Fat Lady finally came in sight, Megan realized that she forgot the new password! The door, however, was slowly swinging shut as she barreled into a desperate sprint for the portal.
Side-stepping the frame Megan dove headlong into the now skinny doorway, bowling over the Gryffindor house prefect, Andrew, and a boy she did not recognize, who had apparently just entered before her.
The door snapped shut on the end of Megan's robe.

Gwyn picked himself up and instinctively rubbed his right shoulder where it had struck the wall. Whoever it was that had knocked them over was lost in a sea of robes. Gwyn moved into the common room and was dumbfounded at the site before him. There were padded chairs, couches, armchairs and the walls had tapestries hanging here and there. He was use to cold stone walls, hard wooden chairs that were uncomfortable at the best of times. He looked around the common room and was amazed, there was even a roaring fire. He had removed his ushanka as soon as he arrived in the professor’s office, for not doing so in his old school would have quickly resulted in corporal punishment. But here, in this common room things were very different, there was a fire, the room was warm and inviting. He pealed off his tsigeika and looked around in awe. The room was crowded and everyone was talking and laughing freely, something not commonly seen at his old school, where conditions were austere. His mother had told him of Hogwarts but he had never really believed her reminiscences but here it was, just as she had told him.
Gwyn suddenly felt very much out of place. About all he shared with these people was a common language. His clothing was different, as were his shoes and even his haircut. Everything about him shouted out that he was an outsider, just as it had been when he started in his old school with his brogue Welsh accent.
“Would you like to meet some of me mates?” Andrew asked him.
“Yes I’d like that but is there somewhere I can leave these things?” Gwyn asked indicating his ushanka and tsigeika.
“Come on I’ll show you to your dorm. Your trunk and broom are already there.” Andrew said as he led Gwyn to a set of spiral stairs.
Their dorm was roomy and the beds were not arranged in the manner of a military barracks nor were they anything like the beds he was use to. He tossed his coat and hat onto his bed and sat down. He was exhausted from his journey and the bed was so soft and inviting. It had been over a week since he last slept in a bed. He smiled as he looked around the room and at his and the other beds, these beds had drapes that could be closed so the customary cold drafts of his old school were now a thing of the past.
“My bed is that one there.” Andrew said pointing to a bed closer to the stairwell. “The other two beds belong to me mates, I’ll introduce you to them, they’re downstairs.” Andrew looked at Gwyn. “Are you alright?” he asked.
“What…? Oh yeah, I’m fine. This is just so incredible… you have no idea.”
“So do you want to go back down and meet some of me mates?” asked Andrew.
“Yeah that’d be great thanks. Do any of your mates play Quidditch?” Gwyn asked as they returned to the common room. Gwyn got some looks from a few of the students as he made his way through the crowded common room but now that was neither here nor there to him. Gwyn accidentally bumped into girl as she stepped back in front of him and stumbled.
“Sorry… I’m sorry. My fault.” he said smiling as he reached out to steady her also noticing her good looks. Feeling embarrassed, he could feel the colour rising in his cheeks. He was finally here, Hogwarts was now his home for nine months of the year and that suited him just fine. He had made good friends in spite of being the outsider in the harsh conditions at Durmstrang, and he would make good friends here too.

"It's quite alright," Megan replied, realizing that she had accidentally bumped into this boy earlier. She felt less embarassed knowing, by the look in his eyes, that she was not recognized.
With Gywn's help, Megan quickly got her bearing back. She tried to subtly look the boy up and down, but no matter how hard she tried to hide it; Gywn noticed. He was definetly not from around here, by his dress alone. His accent was a whole different story. Megan refused to comment on either of these things, as it appeared that he was sensitive to his misplacement.
She felt compelled to say something that might ease his embarassment, but her habit of keeping quiet annoyingly quiet around strangers kicked in.
Come on, talk! she scolded herself. The situation gains awkwardness with each silent passing second, now say something!
Knowing that she had already examined him, Megan felt less guilty about taking another quick look.
He wasn't carrying a broom!
That didn't mean anything of course... but it was possible that there was another person on earth who wouldn't rant about that clearly over-rated game!
"So," she said, averting her eyes to the floor. "Welcome to Hogwarts. Will we be seeing ya at quidditch tryouts?" Anyone who saw this kid had to assume he was a new arrival. Megan secretly hoped with all her being that he would turn down her later question, though the prefect nearby nodded his approval.
That soundly randomly rehersed, you idiot! she continued to scold herself. Just leave now before you do something really embarassing.
"Anyway, my name's Megan! I'll see you around." she finished and made to shake his hand before leaving.

((OOC: Just got back so ima post. Everyone's gone tho so i dunno whos gonna post after this next...))
Kade sprinted into the Great Hall as lunch began. Emily, Amy and Sean followed after him, lacking the enthusiasum he had for his precious food. He snagged a couple pieces of bread and threw some meat in between them. He took a bite and walked over to the others.
"Sorry," he said. "You have no idea how hungry i was today. All I had to eat was that peice of toast for breakfast."
Emily grabbed a pastery from the table and looked back at Kade. "You know, that's usually enough to tie a person over till lunch."
Kade smiled and grabbed a goblet of pumpkin juice. "Not me."
Sean laughed and grabbed some food as well. "So how's school been so far for you guys?"
Kade shrugged and took another bite. "It's been ok really. I always love coming back here. You know, I think the highlight of the year will be when Charlie and Emily do there bet consequences." Kade nudged Emily in the arm. She gave him a sour look. "By the way, has anyone seen Megan?"
"I think she went back to the common room," Emily said.
"All right, well I'm going to go bring her some food. I'll see you guys in class!" Kade waved goodbye before grabbing a platefull of food and hurrying out into the corridor.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
((OOC: This happens as Megan is about to leave the room))
"Hey Megan!" Kade yelled from the doorway of the Gryffindor commonroom. He approached her as he muched on the sandwich he had snagged from the Great Hall cradeling a load of food in his arms. "Lunch just started! You're missing out! They've got beef, and pumpkin juice and-" Kade stopped short noticing the obviously new guy standing next to her. He forced down the enormous bite he had taken of his sandwich and whiped his hand on his robe. He extended his arm to the new guy. "Hey! I'm Kade Adair. Are you new here?"
"Bye, Kade," Sean McLeod said still focused on the succulent morsels in his hands. He quickly chewed and swalloed, then turned his focus to Emily, "So anyway, how have you bee lately?"
"Oh, I've been pretty good, I guess," Sean continued to munch away at this lunch but kept his focus on the young witch across from him, "hey, how has your study of runes been going," she asked enthusiastically. His eyes widened a bit. He swallowed his current bite before speaking.
"Great, "he exclaimed before taking a sip of pumpkin juice. He then proceeded, "I've been keeping up on it. I kind of am ahead of class already but If I don't keep it up, I'll loose it. So I'm still going to work just as hard in class. Extra practice never hurts. Speaking of which!" He quickly finished his meal, downed his drink before announcing, "I have it next. So i guess I will see all of you Gryffindors later, eh mate?"
"Right, I'll tell the other. See you later, Sean."
"Farewell for now," and with that he grabbed his things and left for his next class.
OOC Finaly posted a Bio for Gwyddion.
Gwyn knew this young lady was giving him the look over and could feel his ears going red. He recalled the day he first walked into Durmstrang and was obviously an outsider, and here again some of the same feelings crept up on him, though his initial reception here was much better.
Quote "So," she said, averting her eyes to the floor. "Welcome to Hogwarts. Will we be seeing ya at Quidditch tryouts?"
“Thanks. Ah.. ya.. I do play Quidditch, though I’ll likely just be watching.” Oh god that was pathetic he said to himself. He tried to smile and caught Andrew’s reaction to her question as she glanced at him too.
Quote "Anyway, my name's Megan! I'll see you around." she finished and made to shake his hand before leaving.
“I’ll see ya around no doubt.” He said as raised his hand to shake hers. “Gwyddion. It’s my name.., sorry. He could feel his face flush. “Just call me Gwyn.”
Quote "Kade stopped short noticing the obviously new guy standing next to her. He forced down the enormous bite he had taken of his sandwich and whipped his hand on his robe. He extended his arm to the new guy. "Hey! I'm Kade Adair. Are you new here?"
“Hey Kade.” Gwyn shook his hand. “Ya I just arrived today, we got held up on the way so I missed the train. I’m Gwyddion, Gwyddion Allardyce but just call me Gwyn.” Nice guy thought Gwyn as he watched Megan and Kade until they were swallowed up in the crowd.
As to Quidditch, Gwyn figured it would be better for the new guy to take a wait and see attitude to playing, until he knew how things worked here and knew the right people. He joined Andrew and was nudged in the ribs by him.
“What?” He said surprised by the elbow in the ribs.
“You don’t wait half long do ya”. said Andrew teasing him.
“Oh come on, I was just trying to be nice. She seemed friendly, that’s all.” Gwyn said in his defence.
Andrew nodded unconvinced giving Gwyn a “yea right” look. Andrew took Gwyn to meet two other guys who were part of the Gryffindor Quidditch team. Andrew quickly turned the conversation to Quidditch.
“Ya, I played chaser for the last two years at Durmstrang”. Gwyn answered when asked about his Quidditch experience. “In English our name would’ve been Hell’s Hounds. The only rule ever enforced was no killing your opponents. You had to give as good as you got or you’d be out in no time. The games were more like combat and every player has his own scars, I’ve got mine. Teachers expected you to take it and dish it out too. Durmstrang works on very different rules than Hogwarts. Dark rules and the Dark Arts, they rule at Durmstrang. Compassion is something your careful with unless you’ve proven your strength or are quick with a wand. Then you’re respected. My first year wasn’t that good, but by my second year I learned, and gave as good, sometimes better than what I got. As bad as that sounds it’s the way of life there. You’re taught to be ready for anything and how to use whatever force is needed.”
“It’s going to be great to be here though. My mother and father were both in Gryffindor and from all they’ve told me Hogwarts is going to be great.” They spoke for a while before they all headed to the Great Hall. Gwyn and Andrew behind him quickly ran up the spiral stairs to the dormitory. Gwyn opened his trunk and picked out the new clothing and his Hogwarts robes. He stuffed his Durmstrang cloths at the bottom of the trunk.
“What the hell!” Exclaimed Andrew seeing Gwyn’s back and left arm.
Gwyn turned to face him as he buttoned up his shirt and put his robes on.
“I told you we all have our own scars at Durmstrang. Gwyn commented sounding unconcerned. “Those are some of mine. Now are you going to show me how to get to the Great Hall, or are we going to starve on my first day?
Hogwarts was more than what Gwyn had expected. The Great Hall, the food, the people and everything just blew his mind. He and Andrew tucked into a big lunch washed down with butter beer. It wasn’t long before the Great Hall began to empty emptied and the food vanished from the tables. Everyone was now in classes. Gwyddion had no classes until the following day and did some exploring, managing to get lost twice and having to ask a passing ghost for directions. At one point he was looking at a tapestry and out from behind it came a third year student. Gwyn had by chance found his first short cut but had no idea where it went, or if there were more short cuts once you went in. He defiantly had to find out more. He made his way back to the common room and sat in the armchair closest to the fire. He felt good. Hogwarts was everything his parents had told him and more. He might even get to play Quidditch.
Emily walked down the hallway towards her next class - Arithmancy. As there was only the one class period, there would be students from every house in the class. When she was at the doorway, she saw a familliar face.
"You again?" She asked, exhasperated. Charlie gave her a cheeky grin and shrugged. She sighed and they walked into the room together. "I'm never going to be rid of you," She muttered, putting her things on a desk in the front row. To her chagrin, charlie put his on the desk next to it.
"Well, there are some who would say it's more of a blessing than a curse." He told her. She rolled her eyes and got out her textbook.
Arithmancy looked to be an interesting class - it was like the scientific approach to divination, and didn't actually involve very much magic at all. It was the scientific way of predicting the future, using dates and math and logic. Today they were just briefly given an overview of what they would be learning - and some of the more advanced lessons were enough to make Emily's head spin. She could only hope that by the time she had gotten to those lessons, they would seem easier.
After class, She started to walk towards the Ravenclaw common room, but was stopped by a hand grabbing her wrist.
"Ohhhh no you don't. " She looked around to see Charlie, looking smug. "Don't forget our bet." Emily growled slightly, but allowed herself to be propelled up several flights of stairs to the Gryffindor common room. Charlie told the fat lady the password, and frog-marched her inside.
"Emily?" Megan said; she was standing right by the entrance. "What are you doing-oohhh. The bet, right?" Emily made a face, and Megan patted the other girl's arm seemingly sympathetically, but with a wicked grin on her face.
"Oh it's that time, is it?" Kade asked, wading through thr crowd of gryffindors, "Great - Just had a grueling divination class."
"Divination's not grueling, it's rubbish-" Emily began, but was cut off by Kade bellowing "YOU LOT!" at the Gryffindors. Some of them paused and looked over. "MY friend has decided to visit us today to tell us all something very important and personal." And with that he seized Emilyaround the waist and placed her on top of a chair. She wobbled a little, and looked around at the room, blushing deeply.
"I- er - " She looked at her friends, but they only grinned, and charlie motioned for her to get a move on. "Bloody no-good tossers" she muttered, "I am madly in love with Professor Slughorn." She announced to the common room. All of the gryffindors burst into laughter. She tried to climb down but Charlie waggled his finger at her.
"Don't forget the second bit."
Now blushing so much she was afraid it would be permanent, Emily straightened up again, and sighed, and said "And my greatest ambition is to become Mrs Slughorn." The laughter burst out again, louder than before. Emily hopped down from the stool, grabbed her bag, and shot out into the corridor, wishing very badly to evaporate.
I am definately making sure Charlie's dare is just as ...memorable. She thought, walking toward her own common room.
((OOC: HAHAHA that was great. Nice post Michi))
"Oh bugger," Kade said as Emily ran from the commonroom. "I'm gonna go make sure we didn't hurt her feelings." Charlie waved him off as he laughed with the Gryphindor Quidditch team and Megan nodded and agreed to come along. Kade shot out of the commonroom at full speed toward Emily, who had gone a long distance in a short time.
"Emily!" Kade shouted down the hall. Emily whipped around to see him. She was beet-red with embarrassment and rolled her eyes at him.
"Now what," she said sarcastically. "Did I forget to add something?"
"No," Kade said. "I came to see if you're alright. You know, I want to know if you hate me right now for, uh, you know, nudging you up there-"
"Nudging?!" Emily exclaimed. "You call hoisting me up by my waist into a chair "nudging?" I'd hate to see what "forcing" is to you."
Kade grinned nervously and scratched his head. Megan stepped forward. "It's normal to be angry with him for doing that but you did make the bet right?"
Emily grimaced and sighed. "Ugh, I guess you're right. It's ok Kade, just make sure I'm there to see Charlie's."
"Oh you won't want to miss that." Kade said grinning maniacally. "I've got something special for that. Now if we're alright I need to go talk to the photograph group for a minute to discuss...um, just to discuss."
"Yeah, we're fine," Emily said as Kade smiled and hugged her in relief. He waved to them both as he ran back down the hall with a wide smile on his face.
((OOC: And now preparations begin for Charlie's...))
Gwyddion had spent the last few hours reorganising his trunk and packing away all the clothing he had had from Durmstrang except for the coat, hat and fighting staff. As the afternoon wore on people began to filter into the Gryffindor common room. The sounds of the common room drifted up to the dormitory and Gwyn decided it was a good time to try and meet some of the other students in Gryffindor House. The truth be told he was somewhat anxious about this and not quite sure where to start or what people would think. At Durmstrang it had not been easy to be accepted by the other students mainly due to his lack of understanding or speaking Bulgarian. Non the less he would have to try.
He made his way down the spiral staircase and about half way down bumped into Andrew..
“Ah Gwyn I've a note for you from Professor Dumbledore.” Andrew said as he handed him the note.
Gwyn opened the note and read it. “He wants to see me in his office at my convenience. Well that likely means now.” Gwyn commented out loud. “I’ve only seen him when I arrived, what’s the Professor like?” Gwyn asked Andrew.
“Well he’s the head of Gryffindor House and a good sort of bloke. Though he always seems to know what you’re thinking even before you say anything. He’s very fair and understanding, but quite unnerving at times. His eyes seem to look right through you. Ah don’t worry it’ll be nothing much. Got your class list yet?
“No not yet.” Gwyn Replied
“Well there you go, that I’ll be what it’s about. He’s head of Gryffindor House and at Hogwarts you get your class list from your the head of house.”
Andrew showed Gwyn to Professor Dumbledore’s office then asked. “Can you find your way back alright?” Gwyn shook his head and thanked Andrew; he turned and knocked on the door.
“Enter”
Gwyn opened the door and stepped in. “Good afternoon Professor Dumbledore.” Gwyn said as he bowed.
“Good afternoon Mr. Allardyce.” Replied the Professor looking over the top of his glasses. “Won’t you please be seated.”
A half-hour later Gwyn returned to the common room and sat alone by the window and again looked again at his class list. Astronomy, Charms, Defence Against the Dark Arts, Herbology, History of Magic, Potions and Transfiguration. It was evident from the list that Hogwarts was a much different school, somewhat more different than he had expected. He looked down at his list several times and felt odd. There were no classes in the study of duelling, curses, cursed and cursing objects, hexes, and the unforgivable curses, all of which he had studied in depth for the last three years. It was certainly a lighter coarse load than he was use to but even so there was a touch of disappointment in him. He knew it would be different and all in all it was a change for the better. He realised that he had absolutely no idea where any of his classes were. He stood up and looked around for any familiar 4th year faces from lunch
"I don't even want to know." Megan muttered to Emily, as Kade left their company. "And people think I like trouble." Kade couldnt be up to anything good. It obviously had to do with the other half of their deal.
As a second comfort to her friend, Megan linked her arm with Emily's and strode back up to their common room.
The minute they entered the room, a stream of childish snickers hissed at their ears. Emily turned beet red and clutched hard at Megan's arm.
Megan took the hint and hurried up the stairs to their room.
"Don't worry, Emily." Megan said, trying to say something encouraging. "It'll all blow over. Perhaps sooner than you think. Charlie's bit is coming soon!"
Emily nodded and laid down on her four-poster bed.
"Well theres no point in hiding from them! Come on! You can't stay up here forever. Just go downstairs and get it overwith! They'll know what you're doing if you hide, and stare even harder when you eventually come out."
"I guess you're right." she muttered half-heartedly.
Megan froze for a second. She hadn't really expected her pep talk to work. In fact she felt a little hypocritical. Were it her, she wouldn't leave her room for a month. But Emily took the bait! Megan decided, that for her own personal amusement, she would seize the moment.
"Alright then! Let's go!" she squeaked cheerily. "It is our first couple of days back afterall!"
Slowly, the two made their way back downstairs.
***
The whispered comments and chuckles soon died down, and Megan was pleased to see Emily visibly relax, as they visited with old peers.
It wasn't long before people started to wander from the common room to find other places of interest after a boring day with a couple classes. When the last of Megan and Emily's group dispersed, they stood to find something else to do.
They didn't have to search long, as they noticed Gwyddion up and around, looking in need of a friend. Megan caught his eye and walked over to introduce Emily.
"Hey there Gwyn!" she said, acting a lot calmer than she actually was. "This is my friend Emily, by the way." she added shoving her friend forward.
Emily looked as if she was hoping with all her might that his first impression of her was not of the earlier display.
Megan noticed a class schedule in Gwyddion's hand. "Oh! Are you finding all your classes alright?" she suspected that his buddy Andrew had already given him directions, but asked anyway to prevent any awkward silences.
Gwyddion replied saying that he had no clue where to go.
In her attempt to keep Emily active, Megan offered to show him around.
***
"Watch out for this staircase, it tends to jump about faster than the others. The one on the left sticks, which is a good thing unless you're in a hurry." Megan drawled on and on, trying to let all the information she was spewing sink in. She figured that she was not suceeding.
On the way down the corridors, a group of Slytherins eyed the trio maliciously. Megan quickly changed their course to avoid the group, trying to spare Gwyddion the trouble of being "the new kid" to an unruly bunch. She new their sudden change in direction must have thrown their new friend off a bit, but she decided not to tell him that it was for his own good.
Even though the Slytherins were 3 corridors away, Megan had a feeling that they were not entirely rid of them.
Gwyn was standing watching the portal as people came through in groups. Classes had obviously ended and he hoped to catch either Andrew, Kade or Megan as they came into the common room. He caught a glimpse of Megan with a friend but they disappeared up into one of the dorms with a sea of hisses behind them. He had no idea what the hissing was all about and he wasn’t going to ask.
“Excuse me, have you seen Andrew?” He asked a fourth or fifth year close by.
“Sorry mate, he’s patrolling the Halls. Anything I can help you with?”
“No that’s alright, thanks anyway.” Gwyn replied. The crowd in the common room began to thin and Gwyn figured he had time to try and find his first and maybe his second class room before dinner. Class list in hand he made for the portal.
Quote "They didn't have to search long, as they noticed Gwyddion up and around, looking in need of a friend. Megan caught his eye and walked over to introduce Emily."
"Hey there Gwyn!" she said, acting a lot calmer than she actually was. "This is my friend Emily, by the way." she added shoving her friend forward.
“Hey Megan!” Gwyn was please to see her in spite of his earlier embarrassment. I'm pleased to meet you Emily" he said as he extended his hand.
Quote Megan noticed a class schedule in Gwyddion's hand. "Oh! Are you finding all your classes alright?" she suspected that his buddy Andrew had already given him directions, but asked anyway to prevent any awkward silences.
“I haven’t got a clue where I’m going.” Gwyn replied. “I was just going to go and hopefully find something before dinner.”
When Megan and Emily offered to show him around he let out a sigh of relief. The shifting staircases unnerved him. No matter how well Megan explained the staircases he was baffled by them. They would swing from one staircase to another on the other side of the hall, Megan and Emily took it all in stride and somehow knew exactly where they were going all they time. They had found his first two classes, which Megan was in, when she grabbed him by his arm and swung him around into a different corridor. Gwyn stumbled but fell in stride quickly. Three Slytherin boys in their 6th year fell in behind.
“Hey newby, what are you doing with them.” One of the boys shouted at them.
Megan grabbed his arm and kept walking but Gwyddion stopped her, he turned and faced the boys.
“Talking to me are you?” They had hit a nerve and Gwyddion's temper was rising.
The three Slytherins walked closer feeling very sure of themselves.
“Ya, you’re the newby, only one I see here." He looked around mockingly while the other two sniggered. "What are you doing with the likes of them.” He said nodding his head towards Megan and Emily. “You should be with us, we’re more alike. Not that Gryffindor scum.” He said with a note of loathing.
“Is that so.” Gwyddion replied, his face flushed in anger. “I’ve heard of your lot. So proud of your Slytherin heritage, your pure blood and dark ancestry. You know nothing… nothing of the Dark Arts.” Gwyddion spat out. “You’re nothing but back street bullies, afraid to face your own shadows.” He laughed harshly.
The lead Slytherin boy stared at him enraged. He went for his wand but they were to slow for Gwyddion, his wand was out in a flash, sparks flying from the end of it. Without a word the three Slytherins boys lifted up and foot or two off the floor grabbing at their throats not making a sound.
From some other corridor there was a girl’s scream but for Gwyddion the world went quiet. He stood there arms at his side wand up pointing at the three boys. Megan was shaking him and shouting for him to stop it but he didn’t hear her.
“Gwyddion for god sake stop it!!” Andrew had heard the shouts and came racing down the hall shouting at him. It was only when Andrew stood in front of him and shouted that the spell on Gwyddion snapped. He flicked his wand and the three boys hit the far wall and fell to the floor. Another flick and a sticky net appeared on top of the boys.
Gwyddion was pale and wet with sweat. He looked at Andrew, Megan and Emily as though he just came out of a daze. He slumped forward into Andrew.
“Get me out here” he whispered to them.
By the time they got back to the common room the news of what had happened had spread. Gwyn refused to go to the dorm and after Andrew moved someone out of the armchair Gwyn sat down. The common room was a buzz with whispers but quieted. Andrew, Megan and Emily sat close.
“I’m sorry… I’m so sorry..” He said in a hoarse whisper. “At Durmstrang… it happened to me… I was the newby there. I was different... me and two others… one of them got hurt bad.. so bad he had to leave the school. I learnt… the hard way. You have to hurt people to gain respect. One day in April… my first year I had enough. They were just like those three…I hurt them… hurt one of them bad… then it stopped. I was respected… no one bothered me or any friend of mine. It wasn't going to happen again... I made sure if it. It’s like that there.” Gwyn put his head in his hands. “I just saw it all happening again. I might as well pack my trunk and go back. I’m finished here, there’s no way they’ll let me stay now.” People were looking at each other and whispering. The portrate swing open and the room went very quiet. Gwyn knew who was in the room without looking.
“Mr. McDonald, will you assist Mr. Allardyce upstairs please.” There was no anger in Professor Dumbledore’s voice. “Ladies I would like to talk to you later on, in my office.” The Professor went to the dorm stairwell and flicked his wand. What ever he did no sound was heard from upstairs.
Professor Dumbledore laced his fingers and set them under his chin, still staring at the two girls before him with that penetrating blue-eyed gaze. Megan and Emily squirmed slightly under the scrutinizing look, and he sighed.
"I wish you would tell me exactly what went on between Mr. Allardyce and those three boys." The girls exchanged glances, and looked back at Dumbledore, before simultaneously beginning to speak.
"Sir, the boys are going to be fine, right? So he doesn't need to be expelled-"
"They were mocking him and he lost control; it's because of that awful school he went to-" He held up a hand and they fell silent.
"No one is going to be expelled," He said. "I just would like to know exactly what he did and what he told you about it. I will be speaking to him later, but he will remain at Hogwarts. I will also," He added, "Be speaking to the head of Durmstrang about the behavior he allows and the problems it causes for transferring students."
Convinced that Gwyn wasn't going to be kicked out if they told Dumbledore what happened, the two girls relayed the entire story to him and then, hesitantly, what Gwyn had told them following the incident. Dumbledore nodded once at them, eyes twinkling behind his half-moon spectacles.
"Thank you." He said simply, "You may go now."
They stood up, and fled the office.
~
"I hope he doesn't mind that we told Dumbledore what he told us," Megan said as they walked down the hallway. "It was kind of personal..." Emily shrugged.
"Dumbledore was going to talk to him anyway - he probably just wanted to double-check that the stories matched up, or something." They reached the common room, and Megan gave the Portrait of the fat lady the password, before climbing inside.
"Coming?" She asked Emily, who shook her head.
"I'd better get back to my own common room - I have some homework I need to finish." She started walking with a slight wave. "I'll see you at dinner!"
"Bye,"
Andrew was standing at the end of Gwyn’s bed looking down at him. “You alright?”
“Oh ya, just great.” Gwyn’s head was throbbing but he knew what was coming.
“Megan’s back from Dumbledore’s office, he’ll want to see you.”
“Ya I know. Time to face the music, and then pack my trunk…. Listen Andrew… I never meant this to happen. You’ve been a great mate an-all this on my first and last day. I’m sorry you got dragged into this crap.” Gwyn sat up and punched his pillow several times in frustration, a pillow he'd likely never use, leaned forward putting his head in his hands. “Listen I know how to get to his office, there’s no point in you coming. I don’t want you dragged into this anymore than you already are.”
“Sorry mate that’s not how it works around here.” Andrew replied in a matter a fact manner. “Come on, he’ll be waiting.”
Gwyn dragged himself off the bed and headed down the stairs. Everyone starred at them as they went out the portal. The walk to Dumbledore’s office seemed longer than he remembered. People got very quiet and stared as they walked past them down the corridors, Slytherins made rude gestures or uttered quiet threats as he passed them. Gwyn said nothing but held his head up and walked on. When they arrived at the office Andrew looked at him then knocked on the Professor’s door.
“Enter.” Came a soft voice from the other side. Gwyddion stepped in and approached the Professor’s desk. “Mr. Allardyce, I hope you are feeling somewhat better? He said looking up at Gwyn. “Gentlemen please be seat.”
Gwyddion panicked thinking that Andrew was getting dragged in. “Professor Andrew had nothing to do with it, he wasn’t even there.”
Professor Dumbledore placed his hands on his desk and clasped them together. “Calm yourself Gwyddion, I am well aware of that. As a Prefect I have asked Mr McDonald to assist me.”
The boys sat down.
“Now, firstly, you’ll be happy to know I’m sure that the three young men in question will be out of the hospital wing tomorrow. No lasting harm was done. Now, as to the matter in hand.”
Gwyddion looked down and spoke quietly. “I’ll pack my trunk and belongings sir.”
“There is no need to do anything with your belongings Gwyddion.” Dumbledore said calmly.
Gwyddion’s head shot up and looked at the Professor and then to Andrew. There seemed to be a hidden smile on Andrew’s lips. He knew something Gwyddion didn’t.
“You will not be returning to Durmstrang, though I have sent a letter to the Headmaster of Durmstrang questioning their methods, and I have also sent a detailed letter to your parents. The Professor’s voice was strong but calm. “What happened today was tragic. You reacted in a regrettable manner, a manner in which you were taught and which was tolerated at your former school. Hogwarts will not tolerate such actions or another demonstration of your formidable skills for a 4th year. Skills some of our 6 years students have not yet fully mastered. Can you apparate?”
Gwyddion was stunned and completely unprepared for the question. How could he know that? He sat there with his mouth agape but said nothing.
“Yes I thought as much. I’ve heard that Durmstrang flouts the international statues for underage wizardry.” He stared directly at Gwyddion who found it difficult to hold his gaze.
“We do not flout the laws at Hogwarts and you’ll do well to remember that in the future. “Now”. The Professor sat back. “The Head Master and I feel that fault in this matter does not rest solely upon your shoulders. Though it is expected that in the future you will control your emotions and act with complete restraint. Should something like this occur again the consequences could be very serious indeed. As a Prefect Mr. McDonald has kindly volunteered to make you aware of all the rules pertaining to the use of magic within Hogwarts and it’s grounds. You are not in Durmstrang, and you would do very well to remember that.”
The Professor sat forward putting his elbows on the desk and clasped his hands. Here it comes though Gwyddion, the punishment. What ever it was he would bear it gladly, not being expelled was all that mattered. He glanced quickly at Andrew and made eye contact for a second before the Professor continued.
“I have spoken to the two young ladies that were present and they spoke most eloquently in your defence. I have had also had a discussion with the Headmaster, and as head of Gryffindor House he has allowed the conclusion of this matter to rest with me.”
Gwyddion hung on every word the Professor said. Transfixed by those blue eyes that seemed to bore right through him into his soul.
Dumbledore continued. “You will start your classes as expected tomorrow. For the next week you will spend the majority, but not all of your free time in your common room reading and finishing “A History of Hogwarts.” You will report to the Captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch Team. I believe they are short one chaser, a position for which you will tryout.” The Professor stood. “Gentlemen dinner will be in one quarter of an hour and I believe desert will be lemon sherbet, which I am looking forward to.”
The brief meeting was over. Gwyddion and Andrew needn’t be told it was time to go. They stood and went to leave but Gwyddion hesitated and turned back to face the Professor. He had to say something.
“Professor… I…I don’t know what to say.” In disbelief of the outcome he stumbled over his words.
“There is nothing more to say Gwyddion, I understand completely. Good-day gentlemen.”
Once outside of Professor Dumbledore’s office the full realisation of what had happened hit Gwyddion. He was unable to contain himself.
“Yes, yes!” He shouted as he jumped and punched the air. “It’s bloody brilliant, I can’t believe it. Not expelled, I’m not expelled!” He didn’t know whether to shout or to cry he was so relived.” He tried to calm himself and faced Andrew. “I don’t know what to say to you Andrew? I’m only here for a day and you’ve been such a good mate, why?
“Just shut up and keep your nose clean, though I doubt that will happen. Come on I’ll tell what the Quidditch teams like.”
On the way back to the common room the talk was all Quidditch. For the first time Gwyddion used the password to open the painting. Inside he found Megan just about to leave for dinner. He grabbed her by her shoulders.
“I’m not expelled, can you believe that?” He gave her no time to reply. “And I’m to tryout for chaser on the Quidditch team! It’s bloody brilliant!” He said with a huge smile on his face. He calmed himself. “I’m sorry I dragged you and Emily into this Megan. Thanks for your help, and for listening. I don’t know what you two said to Dumbledore, but please know I’m more grateful than you can imagine. Wait a minute and Andrew and I’ll go down with you.” Gwyn tore up the stairs and quickly changed his shirt then tore back down just as quick. He told Megan what happened in Dumbledore’s office and about the Quidditch. If students stared at him he didn’t take notice. Though in the back of his mind he knew Slytherin would be out for revenge, but he was an old hand at watching for that. This wasn’t over yet.
Did Emily say she had homework to do... on our first day back? Megan thought to herself as she trudged back into the Gryffindor common room. That's a bit odd... must be a Ravenclaw thing.Upon entering, Megan was questioned by curious Gryffindors about the goings on of the day. She wasn't really up for chatting about it, and as quickly and politely as possible, excused herself to her dormitory. Megan's roommates had known her long enough to recognize her look of desired anti-socialism. So they left her alone. Megan was only a minor witness to the Slytherin's embarrassment, and as soon as Gwyddion made it back to the common room, people would leave her alone. Knowing well the feeling of gossip going around behind her back, she was pleased with the thought of it all ending in an hour or two. But what of Gwyddion? He had done things that afternoon that seemed downright... wrong? Was there really a black and white version of this story? What were they doing over at Durmstrang, that would drive a kid her age to lose it? More importantly... could it be triggered easily? Megan snuggled into her pillow on her four poster bed until one of her concerned roommates tapped her to ask if she was attending dinner. Having been sitting and quietly thinking for the past couple hours, Megan finally came to a conclusion. For now, acquaintance would be his title from her. Until she could see otherwise, Megan would be wary around Gwyddion Allardyce. *** When Megan finally made it downstairs, she quickly found Kade and faded into the crowd. Or, atleast, she tried to. “And I’m to tryout for chaser on the Quidditch team! It’s bloody brilliant!” He said with a huge smile on his face. He calmed himself. “I’m sorry I dragged you and Emily into this Megan. Thanks for your help, and for listening. I don’t know what you two said to Dumbledore, but please know I’m more grateful than you can imagine. Wait a minute and Andrew and I’ll go down with you.” "That's great!" she said, trying to make things seem as they were earlier. Despite her own musings, she was still unsure about how to handle the situation. He did seem like a really nice guy, even if he came close to killing a fellow student. Megan huddled closer to Kade as Qwyddion left, but offered no explanation as to why she did so. To cover her own actions, she tried to question him about what he had in store for Charlie. Gwyddion came back downstairs before they really had time to talk, and they all headed for the Great Hall. *** Megan wanted to hex whomever decided to put the Slytherin table near the Gryffindor one, now more than ever. But despite the ever growing rumors floating around, Gwyddion seemed to have quite a guard around him. Though he was invited to sit with Kade and Megan; Andrew, who always sat with his own group of friends, had the forth years surrounded with various sixth years, nearly blocking out their view of Slytherin entirely.
Gwyn tried not to notice but the sudden turning of heads as he entered the Great Hall would have been difficult for anyone not to notice. For himself he could have cared less but for those with him the sudden notoriety would have been most uncomfortable. Having the Slytherins tables right next to them didn’t make things any easier for any of the Gryffindor’s, some of whom cast him dirty looks he didn’t miss. Andrew saw to it that his friends were clustered around Gwyn and the others making sure the Slytherins were kept in their place.
Dinner was great, nothing like what he was accustom to. There was a lot of talk about Quidditch, laughing and a lot of difficult questions to field, which he had to answer with tact. Andrew and his friends stayed close by, which made it very difficult if not impossible to talk to either Megan or Kade. About all he managed was to look at Megan and give her a weak smile a couple of times. After dinner it was much the same. Andrew and a few of his 5th and 6th year friends seemed to hem in Gwyddion. Megan had stayed in the Great Hall when they left and he couldn’t blame her. He knew his actions had created a rift and there was nothing he could do about it.
Gwyddion was taken back to the common room where the discussion turned to Hogwarts, its teachers, the other houses and the many secret shortcuts. When he was finally was alone with Gwyddion, Andrew took some time and explained some of the basic rules that he would now have to respect and live by. He was also warned by Andrew to watch out for Slytherin and the revenge they were no doubt planning. After more than an hour had gone by all the talk and questions made Gwyddion’s head began to throb, now all he wanted was the cool and quiet of his dorm and to go to bed.
“Andrew mate I’m sorry but I’m knackered. Do mind if I head upstairs, I really need some kip?” Gwyddion asked.
As it was Andrew was also done in. Both boys left the common room and climbed the stairs to the dorm leaving the days events behind them. The dorm was cool. Gwyn pulled off his shirt and sat on the end of his bed and just fell back and lay there with his arms stretched out over his head, relishing the soothing cool touch of the bed sheets. After a few minutes he stood and stretched then opened his trunk to pull out his pyjamas.
“What the hell are those marks from Gwyn?” Andrew asked seeing small scares on Gwyn’s stomach and chest.
“The smaller ones duelling mostly. He said looking down at his chest. They’re pretty anal about it there. You either win or take the full load. You get winded or bruised up mostly but you learn quickly. Sometimes,” He pointed to a few scares. “They become a grudge match or your jumped in a corridor because you dished it out a bit heavy. Still it’s nothing, it teaches you to be on guard always. Actually it’s not a bad idea to start duelling young. Helps you build up speed drawing your wand.” He pulled his PJ top on over his head and changed into the bottoms. He folded back his sheets and crawled into bed and looked around. His four poster bed was a damn sight better than his bunk at Durmstrang.
“Andrew.” Gwyddion sat up. “Thanks, thanks for all you’ve done. You’re a good mate and I owe you big time.” Andrew just gave him a nod. With that Gwyn lay back down, closed his eyes and fell asleep.
The light of the sun on him woke Gwyn early; he hadn’t drawn his bed curtains. He rolled over and reached for his wristwatch and groaned when he saw the time, 6:23am. He rolled over away from the sun lay there for 20 minutes not able to go back to sleep. The other bed curtains were all drawn and the boy next to him, who he didn’t know, was snoring quietly. Frustrated he got up and dressed quietly. There were already a few students in the common room who he greeted some were already working on homework. Poor buggers, he though. Must be 5th years. He took the chair by the window, sat down, closed his eyes and rested the back of his head against the cold glass pane.
((OOC: On the only working compy. Have fun.))
"Hey Gwyn!" Kade shouted across the room.
Gwyn opened his eyes to see Kade walking toward him. He reluctantly lifted his head from the cool window and smiled at Kade trying not to show he was too tired. "Hey Kade. What are you doing up so early?"
"Aw i can't ever sleep to late here. I'm just excited all the time you know?" Kade said. Gwyn nodded. Kade sat down next to him and took a more serious tone. "I heard about what happened the other day from Megan and Emily. Don't worry, I'm not here to ridicule or criticize your decisions, I hate them too. I just came over to tell you I've got your back mate."
Gwyn was stunned. No one had ever told him this before, well except for Andrew. It was weird being in a place where other actually cared about what hapopened to you. "Thanks Kade. But what happens if it's just me and them again?"
Oh don't worry about that, A voice sounded in his head. I've got you covered.
Gwyn looked around suddenly for the source of the voice when he settled on Kade's smiling face. Gwyn returned the smile.
"Wicked."
*I apologize if u didnt want to use this word being a word used ALOT in the movies but i couldnt help it.*
"Well I don't know about you but I'm getting a little hungry," Kade said as he patted his stomach. "I think breakfast is calling me. Would you like to sit with us today?"
Gwyn thought it over and then stood up with Kade. "Yes, I will."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kade and Gwyn walked down the corridors as they made their way to the Great Hall. It was vurtually empty seeing as most of the others were either still sleeping or already eating. Kade looked down an empty hall and motioned to Gwyn.
"This way, it's the fastest," he said.
They both continued down the corridor until a chuckle echoed from the wall to their left. From the wall walked three Slytherin 7th years all with their wands out.
"So this is the one who made a fool out of the others eh?" the one in the middle said. The other two grunted, obviously this students goons. "Doesn't look like much. Don't you think it's a little unsafe to be out walking without your crew?"
"Leave him alone," Kade said stepping up to look the 7th year in the eyes.
"Well what do we have here," the Slytherin chuckled. "Tough guy eh? Well we've got something special for tough gu-," He cut off and stumbled back. He shook his head and looked around confused. "Bloody hell, what was that?"
Inside the three Slytherin's heads, Kade began to work his way into their minds and find every flaw in their character. The three Slytherin's knees buckled as they slumped over and writhed in pain. Kade sneered.
"So which one of you likes to play with dolls?" Kade said looking down at the three. He looked over at the one on the left. "Ah, you are. And then you must be the one who still wets the bed allthough to cover it up you put the impervious charm on the bed to stop staining." As he said this the one on the right wimpered. "And you." Kade glared down at the one in the middle. "You're parents don't care about you do they? They treat you like dirt and say you are, hold on lemme get this right, as "filthy as those dirty mudbloods." Wow, you really are pathetic aren't you. And to get rid of your humiliation at home you come here to bully other kids."
"I'll kill y-,"
"Sit down," Kade said firmly and the boy wimpered in a new wave of pain. "Now I'm going to say this nicely once: If you come near him again, I'll know. Beleive me, if you thought this was painfull, just try and touch him again. You'll feel pain like you've never felt before." The three tensed as they tried to get away from Kade. Kade calmly turned to Gwyn with a smile. "Shall we go get some breakfast? I'm absolutely famished."
With a wave of his hand the three boys stopped convulsing and they staggered away. Gwyn watched them leave and looked back at Kade. Kade smiled. "Shall we?"
"But, how," Gwyn started. "Without a wand?"
"This may have reprucussions, but at least now you'll be safe. I'll inform the other Gryphindors to be on the look out for any more suspicious Slytherins. Come on. Let's go meet Emily and Megan. They're probably waiting for us."
((Sorry bout this stuff. It was better when i first did it but u kno how it goes: deleted = rewrite = not as good. So here u go.))

OOC - I'm in a rush and I still need to check things over but here it is.
Quote "Hey Gwyn!" Kade shouted across the room. Gwyn opened his eyes to see Kade walking toward him. He reluctantly lifted his head from the cool window and smiled at Kade trying not to show he was too tired. "Hey Kade. What are you doing up so early?"
Gwyn had wondered about Kade and what his reaction was to the prior days events. Kade had been one of the few people to actually talk to him early on and he wondered if his new found bad boy notoriety meant that Kade would give him the cold shoulder, as a number of the Gryffindors’ had. Well that question was answered for him quickly enough.
Quote "Thanks Kade. But what happens if it's just me and them again?"
Oh don't worry about that, A voice sounded in his head. I've got you covered.
Legilimency Gwyn said to himself, bloody brilliant. Gwyn was reasonably proficient in Occlumency but his Legilimency skills did not impress his Durmstrang professor who expected better from him.
Breakfast sounded good and Gwyn’s troubles didn’t seem to bother Kade whatsoever. Gwyn’s only concern was that he did not want to drag anyone in the mess he was in by association but this didn’t seem to bother Kade either. It was nice to know there was someone that didn’t prejudge him. Not having Andrew at his side didn’t concern him and besides Andrew might want a break from being his protection. So with no further thought on the matter Gwyn happily headed to the Great Hall with Kade.
Quote So this is the one who made a fool out of the others eh?" the one in the middle said.
What happened next was like something out of a dream. Kade clearly overwhelm the Slytherin 7th years with a skill in Legilimency that he would have loved to have. He could do well enough in his opinion but nothing even close to the skill that Kade demonstrated. As Gwyddion watched Kade one by one humiliate the Slytherins, he knew already they would only be more enraged by this and when they had the chance their revenge would be brutal.
The Slytherins, when they were let go by Kade, glared at them with a hatred and rage that Gwyn knew meant trouble, big trouble.
"Not half bad mate" Was all Gwyn could say as he patted Kade on the back. He wanted to say something more to thank Kade for stopping them but he could not forget the look in the ring leaders eyes.
Megan and Emily, as Kade had said, were in the Great Hall. He was surprised at this but he was glad for the extra company and for a while he was able to forget his concerns. He did notice that when Megan spoke to him it was strained, animated and he could tell that she would likely have preferred it if he were not there. Again he blamed himself for this.
Kade was busy talking with everyone and Gwyn wanted to go back to the common room and get everything ready for his first class. He quietly slipped away from the table without being noticed and made his way back to the common room, a route he now knew well enough to go on his own. The halls still had only a few people in them all making their way to breakfast. The looks and fleeting glances he got he was well aware of but he made as though there was nothing wrong. There was the sound of hurried feet behind him and he turned in time to see the last of three boys rushing at him from a opening behind a wall tapestry. Gwyn went for his wand but his hand never reached it.
“Grab his arms.” The one of them hissed.
Gwyn recognised the boys as the same ones that Kade had dealt with earlier. He just glared at the one in front of him, he said or shouted nothing despite them stupidly forgetting to cover his mouth.
“Well, well… with out your friends I see." the lead boy said looking around. "No one around to watch your precious ass this time. Not so strong are you without a wand” He twirled Gwyn’s wand in front of his face. “or did they teach you how to curse people with your eyes at your other school? Do they teach you how to fight like a man or only with your wand?”
The boy spat in Gwyn’s face and punched him in the stomach while the other two held him. The force of the punch would have double Gwyn over were he not being held.
“What’s a matter boy nothing to say, nothing to scare us with or some dark curse to shout out? Not so big are you now you little bastard? My friends are still in the hospital wing…” He moved close to in, Gwyn could feel spit hitting his face as he talked in a low but enraged voice. “and I don’t like it when some pathetic little up start comes in here and wants to show off what he learned of the dark arts.
The bigger boys knee came up hard and caught Gwyn between the legs. Gwyn’s legs went out from under him and the two holding him through him to the floor. The boys laughed. Gwyn was in agony not able to move and what if anything was said he didn’t know. He felt a kick then two in the small of his back by his kidneys and then in the back of the head. Gwyn’s head then flew back as a shoe connected with his nose which lead to several more kicks to the face and back. His hair already wet with blood from his nose was yanked back pulling his head up.
“You watch your step little boy or we’ll have to have this conversation again. We’d like that wouldn’t we boys?” The other two boy laughed. “Welcome to Hogwarts you little piece of Gryffindor shit.”
Someone spit on him again and threw his head down on the floor. Gwyn didn’t hear the sound of his wand being dropped his at his feet. He lay there on the cold marble floor huddled up and shaking. Blood from his nose and facial cuts created a small puddle on the floor. His senses were all overwhelmed by the pain. It was just as it had been in Durmstrang at the start of his first year. The outsider being given a work over.
Slytherin had taken their revenge as all cowards do and Gwyn understood this, but this was far from over. He reached up to a blurred image of a girl and tried to call out but his insides were still reeling from the kicks to his groin and stomach. He vomited out breakfast, his arm fell limp to the floor and he passed out.

“Bloody hell! Stop throbbing!” said a rather muffled voice from behind a wall of bed hangings.
Andrea awoke that morning with a headache that felt as though someone was hitting her head with a mallet. She lay on her stomach for a few minutes more with her face stuffed into her pillow hoping the throbbing her in head would cease. After awhile, it dulled slightly, but only enough so it was manageable. She rolled over on to her side and reached blindly for her wristwatch, which she enchanted so it was always read the time spot on.
Great, she thought, 6:34. I’ll never get back to sleep now. Not with this monster in my head.
Reluctantly, she pulled back some of the hangings, crawled out of bed and began rummaging through her trunk in look of her robes and tie, it was blue and silver, the colours of Ravenclaw house. After five minutes of becoming more and more frustrated because she couldn’t find her blasted tie, she concluded someone had charmed it and it had run away. She sat up on her four poster bed and put her head on her knees and looked down. There was her tie, lying beside her trunk.
Five slow minutes passed as she silently dressed in the semi-darkness. The only light she had was from the sun, shining softly through cracks where she pulled her hangings shut again. Her headache gave a particularly painful throb and she slowly opened the hangings around her bed again. Once up, she looked over to the nightstand beside her bed and grabbed her wand, and as she did so, absently checking her reflection in the mirror above it.
Oh fantastic. No wonder I feel so tired. I must have been dreaming last night too!
She was able to decipher this from the fact her hair this morning was turquoise, yellow and just past her ears and her eyebrows were neon pink. She closed her eyes, wrinkled her nose and when she opened them again her hair had turned black and her eyebrows a dark brown.
Andrea was a Metamorphmagus. Her Great-Great Auntie Greta was one too. Her whole family had thought after two generations of relatives, the ability was lost due to mixed blood, but it was only when Andrea was born that they relieved to find out it wasn’t. When she was born she looked like any regular baby, red in the face from her first few breaths and testing how loud her voice was (screaming her lungs off in other words), and little wisps of blonde hair atop her small head. It wasn’t until her family brought her home from St. Mungo’s after birth when they had the pleasant surprise. The arrival of each new hour, brought a new colour of hair. Soon, it was changing to a mix of two colours at once, then three, and soon the whole rainbow!
When Andrea was old enough to know why her hair could change colour, she was able to take control and find out what she liked best. In the end she settled on slightly longer than shoulder length, layered black hair. A few years after that, a letter came from Hogwarts. Owl post was nothing new to her, neither was the letter she recieved.
She had been expecting the letter ever since her 11th birthday in April. Whenever she saw an owl flying towards their house with something clutched in its beak or something brown tied to its leg; her heart gave a jolt of hope. But never was it her Hogwarts letter, always just a newspaper or a letter for her mother.
Soon, she stopped looking, stopped waiting for her letter. She simply thought that she would turn out to be a Muggle like her father. One day she told her mother this and when she laughed Andrea was about to stomp off when her mother told her,
“If you were a Muggle, then you wouldn’t have accidentally made the salt shaker explode when you looked at it this morning. If you were a Muggle, then you wouldn’t be able to change your appearance at will. But most importantly, if you were a Muggle then, you wouldn’t have received this letter while you were sleeping this morning.”
With a beaming face, Andrea’s mother handed her dumbfounded daughter a letter in a parchment envelope.
And now here she was, wishing there were something she could do about this damn headache, other than seeing the school matron. She was creepy and had a gargantuan mole on her chin, which had several hairs growing out of it. The only thing she could make of it was that she was glad she could prevent it on her face.
She ambled through the common room and through the portrait hole, feeling sympathetic towards the people making last minutes changes to their essays. Glancing quickly at her watch, she made her way towards the Great Hall for breakfast. It was now quarter after seven, which is around the time the other Ravenclaws would be waking up.
As she walked through the corridors, Andrea’s mind began to wander on the most popular topic of gossip in school: that new kid Gwyddion. Andrea didn’t gossip much; she didn’t really have any friends. Of course she knew people and briefly said hi to them or asked them about a homework assignment, but not much else, she was extremely shy.
What’s his problem? She thought savagely. Attacking kids on his first day! I bet he thought it would earn him respect or something. She snorted. That’s definitely not how you earn respect at Hogwarts. But maybe he just lost control…I wouldn’t know, most of the people who talk about him weren’t there when he almost killed the Slytherin kids. They can be pretty nasty though, she thought as she walked down the third floor corridor towards the staircase. I bet he just did that in self-defence. Yeah, that must be it!
Andrea was taught well by her mother never to speak (or think) ill of someone unless you’ve met him or her. She would rather like to meet Gwyddion, or Gwyn as his friends called him. It could be a good friendship; they were both in the 4th year, just different houses.
As she silently trudged on down the steps to the second floor she thought she heard a disturbance. Shouts, screams and savage laughter, what was going on? She quickened her pace, and made to inspect the source of the noise. What met her eyes was something completely unexpected.
Three burley looking Slytherin boys, and,
Gwyddion! She thought with a jolt.
The three boys were propelling their feet at every inch of Gwyddion they could get at. His face was covered in blood.
A wave of panic engulfed Andrea. With out noticing her legs began moving, and her feet were pounding their fastest down the stairs towards the Great Hall. with a quick look back she caught a quick glimps of Gwyddion reaching out to her, but it fell limply to the floor.
She knew Emily would be there, she wasn’t in bed or in the common room when Andrea woke up. Even though Emily didn’t know her well, she knew she would listen to her.
She burst through the doors of the Great Hall and without realizing everyone could hear her including the teachers, she screamed,
“EMILY IT’S GWYDDION! THE SLYTHERINS ARE GOING TO KILL HIM! HE’S ON THE SECOND FLOOR CORRIDOR!”

((OOC: I got your back dude.))
"So Emily, Megan how has your morning been?" Kade asked chewing on some food as he read the Daily Prophet.
"Eh, kind of dull," Emily said.
"Same," Megan replied lookig over Kade's shoulder at the Prophet.
Kade smiled and read on. In the middle of a story about a captured murderer Kade felt a wave of agony sweep by him. He dropped the paper and stood straight up.
"What's wrong Kade?" Emily siad looking up at him.
"Gwyn!" Kade said throwing down his food and pulling out his wand. Kade made for the door when a Ravenclaw girl burst through.
"EMILY IT’S GWYDDION! THE SLYTHERINS ARE GOING TO KILL HIM! HE’S ON THE SECOND FLOOR CORRIDOR!” She screamed into the Great Hall. Kade now panicing about letting him go off alone burst into a full sprint up to the second floor.

As Kade reached the top of the staircase he ran again at full speed, propelled by pure adrenaline. He rounded a corner to see Gwyn being levitated in the air in front of a group of Slytherins. Kade gritted his teeth in anger and ran straight at them.
"Flipendo!" he shouted as a blue ball of light shot from his wand and slammed into one of the Slytherins' chests. The Slytherin boy flew backwards and hit the wall on the opposite side of the hall. Kade raised his wand again and two of the other Slytherin Boys turned to find their attacker. "DIFFINDO!" The boys behind Gwyn were the ones targeted. Before they could raise their wands in defense their clothes ripped and shredded and large gashes appeared on their flesh. The one holding Gwyn up by his wand finally looked over to have Kade slam his fist straight into his right cheek. The Slytherin boy hit the ground and ceased moving. Gwyn hit the ground and Kade ran for him. He picked him up in his arms and ran back to the stairs.
"Damnit! Gwyn! Gwyn, answer me!" Kade shouted as he ran. He looked up to find Emily and Megan rushing up the stairs. When they saw Kade with Gwyn they stopped cold.
"What happend?" Megan started.
"No time!" Kade shouted as he ran past them. "I need to get him to the Hospital Wing!"

As Kade struggled with Gwyn's unconscious body, Emily whipped out her wand and promptly shoved him out of the way.
"Don't be stupid," She said breathlessly, waving her wand. "Locomotor Gwyddion" She wasn't entirely sure the spell would work - they hadn't learned it yet after all. Emily only knew the theory because she had read her Charms textbook three times in the last month - it was her favorite class, and she was eager to find out what they would be studying this year, as well as to learn some of the theories.
To her relief, Gryddion rose several feet in the air, and she was able to move him by directing him with her wand. She muttered "Thank goodness," under her breath, and took off at a run towards the hospital wing.
~
Two flights of stairs, one wrong turn, and a group of stratles first years later, they were bursting into the hospital wing, and Emily was directing Gryddion onto a bed. She ended the spell, and sunk into a chair as Kade and Megan vaguely told the nurse what had happened and she immediately began administering half a dozen potions to him. Emily knew he would be fine - the brutes hadn't used magic, so everything they did would be easily reversed now that he was safe.
This was her first time performing that charm and it was a long way to the hospital wing, so she had been feeling a bit drained when she arrived. Now, however, she felt back to normal after sitting for a few moments, so she joined her friends around Gwyddion's bedside.
"Will he be ok?" Megan asked. She looked very concerned and Emily suspected that it had something to do with how Gwyddion hadn't retaliated like he had before - Megan had seemed wary of him after that. Emily had felt the same, but she felt a rush of pride, looking at him now. He hadn't used any of his scary dark magic learnt in Durmstrang, and had, Emily decided, earned himself some trust.
"Perfectly fine by tomorrow," The nurse informed them. "I'll be keeping him here overnight, but he should be regaining consciousness in a few minutes or so." She finished dabbing dittany on the last of his bruises, and left them to put everything away. Emily's train of thought was abruptly broken by Kade grinding his teeth next to her.
"Those bastards." He said shortly, "I'm going to hunt them down, and when I do..." He made a violent motion in midair and Emily stared.
"You'd better not." Megan said dryly, "You'll only get them angrier."
"Then how-" Kade began angrily.
"We should talk to them." Emily said. "No, wait-" Kade had collapsed in a fit of hysterical giggles. "Seriously, maybe they'll listen. Us three and whoever else wants to join in can go to the slytherin common room and tell them that we don;t want any trouble this year. Tom Riddle's head boy - he'll listen-"
Kade opened his mouth to retort, but the door burst open and Andrew, Charlie, Sean, and Andera - a fourth year Ravenclaw girl Emily knew fairly well - all ran in, white-faced and worried-looking.
"He'll be fine," Megan said to them quickly, before they could all stampede to Gwyn's bedside, "He'll be waking up soon, and he can leave the hospital wing tomorrow." They all visibly relaxed. Andrew and Sean walked up to his bedside, Charlie walked over to stand between Kade and Emily, and Andrea hovered uncertainly off to the side. Emily noticed, turned, and waved her over. She walked over to stand next to Emily.
"I wanted to see if he would be okay," She said in a rush, "I mean, we're not friends, but I-"
"It's fine," Emily said with a smile, letting her know she was welcome with them, "You know Sean already," She said, gesturing, "And Kade, Charlie, Megan, and Andrew are all Gryffindors, though you probably know them from class."
"Yeah," Andrea said, "Though not very well." They were silent for a moment, until Megan spoke.
"You know, I think Emily may be right. We should pay the Slytherins a visit."
