Since this is a seperate Harry Potter board, I decided to make seperate Harry Potter rules, for use in the RP, because there are certain specific rules that appky here.
1. As always, No Mary Sues or Gary Stus.
Or you will be killed with fire.
This means that you cannot be Quidditch Captain AND Head Girl/Boy AND get the highest scores in all your classes AND Solve every mystery AND defeat the dark lord, etc etc. And your character may indeed have extra sparkly speshul powers, but please, don't share them here.
2. No God Modding
Yes, you can write other characters in short bits of dialogue, but don't kill them off or have them make life-changing decisions, etc. Just Don't Even.
3. Even Harry Sucks At Potions.
You can't be good at everything. This falls under suage, but it still deserves its own rule because this is Harry potter. This sort of thing happens.
4. Know Your Stuff.
You should at least have read the books. Preferably all of them, but if not at least up to 4. (I can't blame you for not reading 5 and 6, really.)
5. No Plot-hogging.
Don't simply take the plot and run. If there's a quidditch game in progress, don't have Mary Alice Fluffington dash in screaming about the magical sparkly vision she just had in which there is an emergency that only she can prevent using the power of Sucky Writing.
This is a group effort.
6. Remember, Keep in your Time Period.
With Hogwarts being over 1000 years old, there are many oppertunities for Period Fic. But be sure to be as accurate as possible. If you're writing something set in 1400, don't add in Numbus 2000s, or Albus Dumbledore. This is where reading all the books comes in handy, particularly if the fic is set during Harry's years at Hogwarts.
PM me or Bess if you have any questions or suggestions~
