The Unwanted Dream
As I sit in my room, perched on my bed,
Thunderclouds clap as lightning strikes again.
Rain starts to fall, drip, drip, drip,
I’m looking out my window and it comes down faster yet.
Wind starts to blow; it now starts to howl,
As it charges through my window onto my nice nightgown.
I’m cut, I’m scratched, the glass now sticks in,
My skin is turning red from all the blood that I’ve just shed.
It suddenly went dark as I took the glass shards out,
I now hear screaming as I find my way about.
It gets louder and louder as I approach a big bright light,
Then it just seems to disappear into the night and out of sight.
What was that? How should I know?
For surrounding me are dirt and crops well known.
The screaming is endlessly ringing inside my head,
Like a train just right up ahead.
Fast swirling winds on the horizon lay,
Like the sun breaking out to start a brand new day.
The big bright light appeared once again, this time on my right,
The high-speed winds, on my left, they’re coming in so tight.
This can’t be! I’m too young to die,
Help me! Help me! I started to cry.
When the air filled with no one’s reply,
I knew right then and there that I was truly about to die.
The swirling winds and light are closing in,
They’re coming, coming to get me, faster and faster.
All of a sudden,
CRASH!
I’m lying on the ground,
Motionless, listening but there’s no sound.
Did I actually die? Did I actually know?
My answer came when I opened my eyes and found that I was home!
