For simplicities sake I will only list the common races. There are many others, and if you want to go outside the box and use a less common one clear it with a moderator, and the thread leader. Further details can be discussed as they come up. There are also a number of sub races. If you really want to know the differences between them you can ask me or someone who knows more about them. For the most part, they only share minor differences.
Humans

Residence: They have no lands of their own, but because Humans are the most likely to accept them, they usually dwell in Human lands.
Special Traits: Half-Orcs are usually stronger than the other races, and are extremely ferocious. They have Darkvision; they can see in the dark but in black and white only. They can function perfectly well in pitch black conditions. Many Half-Orcs know the languages of their friends and enemies.
Halflings
Halflings are very clever. Often, they are wanderers and others view them with suspicion or curiosity. They can be reliable and hard working, or they might be thieves just waiting for the opportunity to make a big score then disappear into the dead of night. They are cunning and resourceful survivors.
Personality: Halflings prefer trouble to boredom. They are notoriously curious. Relying on their ability to survive or escape danger, they demonstrate a daring that many larger races can't match. They have big appetites, both for food and other pleasures.
Physical Description: Halflings stand about 3 feet tall and weigh between 30 and 35 pounds. Their skin is reddish, their hair is black and straight. They have brown or black eyes. They would rather wear comfortable clothes than jewelry. They reach adulthood in their early 20s and generally live 150 years.
Relations: Halflings try to get along with everyone. They are great at fitting into communities of different races and making themselves valuable and welcome.
Alignment: Halflings tend to be neutral, chaotic or lawful.
Residence: Halflings have no lands of their own. They usually settle in Human lands. Some Halflings form their own villages.
Special Traits: Halflings are quick and agile, surefooted and athletic. They are adept at climbing, jumping and moving silently. They are surprisingly capable of avoiding mishaps and are usually fearless. They have excellent aim and keen ears.
